Did you know that we grow catnip? 🌿🐈

This fragrant herb is a member of the mint family and has a magical effect on many cats, turning even the most dignified feline into a rolling, purring, and playful ball of joy. 🤣

While we love growing catnip for its herbal qualities, we have a feeling the cats are our biggest fans! 🐾

Some plants make great neighbours!

Basil and cilantro grow beautifully side by side, sharing similar growing conditions while helping to create a thriving little corner of the garden. Basil's leafy growth can attract pollinators and provide a bit of shade during hot summer days, while cilantro's delicate flowers attract beneficial insects.

The result? A garden bed that's not only productive, but full of life!

4 simple gardening tips that make a big difference season after season!

🌱 Give Plants Space
It can be hard to thin seedlings, but overcrowded plants compete for sunlight, water, and nutrients. Proper spacing also improves airflow and healthier growth.

🌼 Check your Garden Daily
A quick walk through the garden helps you to catch pests, disease, or nutrient deficiencies early.

🌿 Mulch Matters
Adding a layer of mulch around the base of your plants helps to lock in moisture, keep soil cooler, and suppress weeds before they take over.

💧 Water in the Morning
Early morning watering gives plants time to dry throughout the day, helping to prevent fungal diseases while reducing water loss from evaporation.

Don’t be afraid to let your chives bloom. These lovely purple flowers are edible and pretty!

The best way to get flowers, and a good harvest, is to trim the plant down. Do this when the first flower buds are just developing. Trim half for the blossom and leave the rest to harvest.

Your blossoms are ready to sprinkle on salads, add to butter boards, influse in compound butters, and to garnish any of your dishes.

For all your spring and summer adventures on-the-go! 🥾

3 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp Greek seasoning
1 cup chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1/2 red bell pepper, diced
1/2 English cucumber, chopped
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
1–2 tbsp fresh oregano leaves
1 cup romaine lettuce, chopped

🥗 Divide the olive oil, red wine vinegar, dried oregano, and Greek seasoning between the bottoms of two 500 ml mason jars and give it a quick stir.

🥒 Layer the ingredients in the jars starting with the chickpeas, followed by red pepper, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and feta.

🥣 Top with fresh oregano and finish with chopped romaine so the lettuce stays crisp above the dressing. Seal the jars and refrigerate until ready to eat. When ready to serve, shake the jar or pour the salad into a bowl to combine with the dressing.

When the season turns fresh and bright, we lean in and savour every bite of it.

Peanut Sauce:

1/3 cup peanut butter
2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce or tamari
2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp honey
1 inch piece fresh ginger, grated
2 cloves garlic, grated
2 tbsp water

Salad:

2 large cucumbers, whole
chili oil, for topping

🧑‍🍳 Whisk together the peanut butter, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, honey, ginger, garlic, and water until smooth and creamy, adding more water if needed to thin the sauce.
🥒 Spiralize the cucumbers (or use a vegetable peeler to make ribbons if you don’t have a spiralizer), then gently pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
🥗 Toss the cucumbers with the peanut sauce, top with chili oil, and enjoy immediately for a fresh, crunchy, and super refreshing salad.
