Another weekend in the books! 🍂

Shane spent his time splitting wood and winterizing the coop. Hopefully, the girls appreciate all his hard work. They should stay warm, and dry. Courtney didn't even take a picture, so you'll just have to take our word for it!
Courtney loaded firewood, hauled it to the woodshed, and even set up her camera to capture the action. Because apparently, moving wood isn't enough work without documenting it!
Colton… well, Colton stuffed his face at Thanksgiving dinner and gallivanted around with his friends. Clearly, he's got this whole farm-life balance figured out. Or just avoids the hard work when he can. 😂
Another weekend of hard work, full bellies, and checking things off the never-ending to-do list.

We traded farm life for a little family time in town today! 🦃🍂

The food was delicious, our bellies are full, and our peopling buckets are topped up! A fabulous Thanksgiving dinner filled with great food, family banter, plenty of laughs, and even better company.

Another week, another sellout!

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of Four Tails Farm!
We are currently sold out until the week of October 25th. We are taking orders for Thursday, October 29th. Please reach out for pickup details.
Our farm-fresh eggs are $5/dozen, featuring a beautiful variety of colours from healthy, happy, well-cared-for hens.
If you'd like to place an order, we encourage you to reach out early, as availability is limited and our eggs continue to sell out each week.

These girls — Louise, Momma & Queen — are all alive… miraculously! 😬🐓

Apparently the run was no longer exciting enough, so the three amigos busted out and took themselves on an adventure… While successfully outrunning the Four Tails. 😳
Thankfully, by the time Courtney joined the chase, they were exhausted enough to be casually scooped up and returned to chicken jail.
All the girls and boys are “grounded” in the coop for the rest of the day until Courtney & Shane can make some much-needed repairs.
Nobody died. Nobody got eaten. Courtney aged far too many years.
Just another “peaceful” day at Four Tails Farm. 😂

Meet Edna & Houdini!

Edna is a sweet girl. She keeps to her little friend group, eats from our hands, causes absolutely no drama and made herself a private dust bath. She also once parked herself on top of the mullein so she could eat the entire thing without sharing. Sweet girl. Selfish snacker. 😂

Houdini… we have a respectful relationship. I don’t touch him, and he doesn’t attack me. 🤞 He’s flighty, antisocial and prefers to be admired from a distance.
But he’s an incredible rooster. He calls his ladies when he finds good snacks, rounds everyone up for bed and shuts down most henhouse drama.
Basically, Houdini is a grumpy security guard with 30+ girlfriends.

A little Arnold update! 🐾
After his porcupine meet-and-greet and incredibly expressive vet visit, Arnold is almost back to himself.
Yesterday, he took recovery VERY seriously—sleeping beside Courtney most of the afternoon, but somehow found the strength to inhale his dinner.
This morning he’s still moving a little slower, but most importantly… he found his emotional support ball. 🎾
So, considering all things Arnold, he’s doing pretty darn well. 🤍

Just when we thought the big expenses were done for the year… Arnold played with a porcupine. 🤦‍♀️
39 quills. One VERY sore dog. One escaped porcupine. One more vet bill.
Arnold: 0
Porcupine: 1
Owning a farm is expensive. Running a farm is expensive. And animals? Incredibly expensive.
But at the end of the day, they’re worth every penny—and worth their weight in gold. 🤍🐾🐓

Another day, another SELL OUT!

One question we get all the time is: “How old are the eggs?”

The honest—answer? Fresh this week!

Our girls give us roughly 9–11 dozen eggs every week, and every week, we are sold out! Quite often we have a “wait list”. If someone doesn’t show up, we contact the next person in line.

Thank you for another sell-out and for continuing to support our girls, our little farm, and our slightly chaotic farming dream.🐓🥚🤍

Happy 17th Birthday, Colton! 🎉🤍

Seventeen years ago they placed this tiny little baby in Courtney’s arms, said “Congratulations,” and then apparently just trusted her to keep you alive. Bold choice - somehow, we made it. 😂
Courtney’s watched you grow from the sweetest, most mischievous little boy into a girl-chasing, car-loving, questionable-music-blasting, school-avoiding, fridge-emptying young man who is now bigger than Courtney and Shane and absolutely convinced he knows more than we do.
You bring a level of chaos to the house that even the farm animals can’t compete with.
You’ve given us grey hairs, heart palpitations, approximately 472 reasons to yell “COLTON!” every morning, and more laughs than we could ever try to count.
But underneath the smart-ass comments, sneaky little grin and teenage attitude is one of the most reliable, kind, intelligent, hardworking and resilient young men we know.
Courtney’s been beside you through every challenge, every win, every heartbreak and every questionable decision — and there have definitely been some questionable decisions. 😏
Watching you grow up has been the greatest privilege of our lives.
Happy 17th birthday to our favourite pain in the ass. 🤍
We love you more than you’ll ever know.

Meet Queen! 👑
Queen looks almost identical to Momma, with a few little giveaways. Momma has a perfectly straight comb with rounded edges, while Queen’s is slightly slanted with pointed tips and three little dots around the base.
And trust us—the name **Queen** suits her. 👑
She really thinks she runs the place. She can often be found perched on top of the water tank—the highest spot in the coop—looking down on her kingdom, squabbling with the other girls and generally making sure everyone knows she’s in charge.
When it’s time to lay, Queen gets down to business. She pops out a beautiful blue egg remarkably quickly, then gets right back to her regularly scheduled shenanigans.
She prefers all four toes firmly on the ground, isn’t overly interested in eating from our hands unless the treat is worthy of Her Majesty, and can regularly be found completely stretched out in the dust bath of the sun is out, taking up as much room as physically possible so nobody else can it.
Queen by name. Queen by behaviour. 👑

🥊 Shane & Colton at war
🍕 Pizza boxes everywhere
🎮 Absolutely no adult supervision

Meanwhile, we’re pretty confident everything will be just fine.
