Shane is officially back to work after a much-needed little “vacation.” And naturally, Mother Nature celebrated his time off by… making it rain. 😂🌧️
Thankfully, he managed to sneak out on the water a couple of times, and the fish did NOT disappoint! 🎣
Between fishing trips and rain showers, Shane also knocked out a few projects around the house. Courtney is VERY happy to report that the TV, shelves, and décor are finally hung in the living room. 🙌 It’s only taken us… well, 8 months. 😂
As a thank-you for his hard work, Courtney tested out a new cheddar jalapeño loaf. 🧀🌶️🍞 It still needs a little finessing, but for a first attempt? We’re calling it a win.
Fish caught. Projects finished. Bread baked.
Not a bad little vacation after all.

🌿🐦 What’s That Bird? That Flower? That Bug? There’s an App for That! 📱

Life on the farm is full of surprises, and one of our favourite tools for learning more about the wildlife around us is iNaturalist.org.

Whether it’s identifying a bird singing from the hedgerow, a butterfly visiting the wildflowers, tracks in the mud, or a mysterious plant growing along the fence line, iNaturalist helps us discover what’s sharing the farm with us.

Every observation you upload also contributes to real scientific research, helping biologists and conservationists better understand biodiversity across Canada and around the world.

It’s become a fun family activity—grab your phone, take a photo, and see what you can find. You never know what interesting species might be calling Four Tails Farm home!

Have you tried iNaturalist? Share your favourite farm or backyard discovery in the comments! 🌾🦋🐸

Mother Nature finally decided to cooperate, and the garden is finally starting to catch up.
Courtney got a late start thanks to the never-ending battle with the mint (a battle that's far from over), but progress is finally showing. The beans are coming along beautifully, the baby tomatoes are thriving, and the first harvest is officially here.

Sure, there are only three tomatoes in the bowl... but that's because Courtney was "quality testing" them while picking. Gardening is hard work, after all. 🍅🌱😅

Somethings just can't be measured in dollars.
Shane always seems to catch the most incredible sunsets. Out here, it's easy to take them for granted because they're part of our everyday life. But no matter how many we see, they never get old.
No one can buy them, no one can sell them, and they never lose their magic. Some of life's greatest treasures are completely free.

We finally got a break from the scorching heat, and the mint battle. Which naturally meant Zeus was in his element. 🐺
His favourite game? Tug-of-war. His favourite rubber rings? The object of complete destruction. After many rounds of rough play, they’re still in great condition.
When the temperature drops, Zeus cranks the chaos right back up—and we wouldn't have it any other way.

A perfect celebration. ❤️
Thank you to all of our family and friends who weathered the storm with us... literally!
We had such an amazing time celebrating with our loved ones we forgot to take pictures.🤦🏻‍♀️ You made the long drive, enjoyed a great meal, friendly banter, listened to live music by Bentley McKegney (Maria McKegney) and helped make our first annual double birthday party one to remember.
To each and every one of you who came and brought something to share, thank you. From the beautiful flowers and thoughtful handmade custom gifts Chantilly's Custom Creations to the baked beans, buffalo dip, pasta salad, candy tray, fresh blueberries, and wine, your generosity did not go unnoticed. Every contribution helped make the day even more special.
We truly couldn't have done it without each and every one of you. Thank you for making our little piece of paradise feel even more like home. 🏡❤️

One of my latest custom projects is finished and gifted! ❤️

I created this matching charcuterie board and birthday card for my friend Shane and his partner Courtney to celebrate their birthdays.

Yesterday was especially nice because it was my first time meeting Courtney in person, and it was wonderful to finally put a face to the name.

Happy Birthday, Courtney & Shane! Wishing you both many more happy years at Four Tails Farm. 🐾

The Quebec wildfire smoke has rolled in, so the girls are staying inside today where the air is a little safer. 💛 🐓
That means extra banana treats and a little more time together.
These quiet moments feel like magic. Watching their personalities shine, seeing the pecking order settle, and slowly earning the trust of once tiny birds that ran from us. It's a reminder that the best parts of homesteading aren't always the big milestones—they're the small, everyday moments that make your heart full. 🐓 🍌

Pretty much sums up the farm today.
Zeus is shaking the life out of a Kong.
Arnold proudly playing fetch with one of his many balls.
Oats pestered Olive one too many times and unleashed her inner demon.
The chickens… surviving. Scared of a shadow hunting down breakfast.
