UPDATE: We have located our Bison and they are now home, BUT there were two that were (maybe still are) at large so please keep an eye out and most likely another Bison Producer in the Luseland/Major area
Sorry for the false alarm! But if you do sight them, please call your local detachment and hopefully they can get back to their rightful owners.
We weren't sure when ours got out and they can get places fast (running up to 55-65km/hr)!!

🦬Names for individual cuts of bison are identical to beef.
🦬Bison can appear to be a deeper red due to the fact that bison has lower fat content, thus less marbling than beef, and higher iron content
🦬Because bison is lean, it will cook quickly. Watch internal temperature and cooking time to avoid overcooking.

Spring is coming, and so are bison calves!

~TEACHABLE TUESDAY~
As the calendar prepares to turn to March, bison producers begin planning for spring and calving season. Pre-calving nutrition becomes vital as ranchers assess their pastures.

The month of March typically offers a final window for ensuring cows are in optimal body condition before calving begins in late April or May. Introducing supplemental minerals for 4–6 weeks prior to calving can improve colostrum quality and calf vigor.

While pastures remain dormant from overwintering, bison cows need to increase forage intake in the weeks before calving. Providing high-quality hay or increasing grain levels helps maintain energy levels without overfattening the animals, which could lead to calving difficulties. Proper conditioning is crucial during this last phase before and also during calving.

Ranchers also need to ensure water sources remain open and viable, as fresh water is a vital component for keeping animals healthy.
