Always so amazing to see the farm through the eyes of others. When we are in the thick of it, you can forget the simple beauty, but our big picture dreams keep going. Thank you ALUS and Mountain View County, Alberta for supporting our farm!

Just wanting to offer some more clarity on what happened. And to be clear that the true Christmas Market were not the ones who scammed us.

We were contacted via email by the someone posing as the market manager for the Bearspaw market. We had been reaching out to every market we could in the past month to get on wait lists, so we thought that was what this was. The email used, the application form, was all cleverly done so that between three of us pretty tech savvy folks, we missed the scam.

We paid through etransfer for two full weekends. But when they kept emailing saying the money wasn’t coming through, we finally tracked down a phone number and called the market manager… the real market manager. And they had never heard of us.

Sadly, we were not the only potential vendors scammed. Bearspaw market finally shared a link on their website for reporting the fraud to the RCMP because it was happening so frequently. 😡

It sucks. A lot. Because we really got our hopes up about being a vendor at two weekend markets that would help cover expenses for the end of the year. Two weekends of meeting amazing new folks who could become potential customers. And out the market fees.

Small business owners get the hurt that comes from sh*tty scams like this.

Several lessons learned for us. For now, just stomping the snow off our boots and carrying on farming.

DO go out and support the vendors at the market! Get those dollars into the local economy and family-run businesses ❤️🎄❤️

TODAY! Last outdoor market of the season ! Find us .mardaloop from 10am-2pm.

Sadly, it was recently announced that would NOT continue weekly through the winter as an indoor market. We are scrambling to find other markets to reach all of you and to replace the income we rely on from this market.

Because it’s so late in the application process, most Christmas markets are filled. The cancellation of was a heavy blow.

Stay tuned for updates on our new schedule!

You WILL be able to visit us weekly .farmersmarket ALL winter, Wednesdays 3-7pm. So pop that into your calendars!

Well, hard frosts & some snow have wrapped the season.

Cow herd went back to their home farm for winter, our steers have moved into their winter pasture & onto their heated water system, and the market is going to sleep.

There has been a flurry of activity by the market garden crew as they get their last harvest out, with the help of family & friends (I think this weekend is the last load). Simultaneously getting in the autumn planting of garlic for next year.

Dani has her passive solar greenhouse planted out and water for winter stored in large totes.

In one more week, the farm will settle into its quiet season, going deep within to hibernate, and replenish itself.

Of course, we will still be bringing our beef and some garden root veggies to farmers and Christmas markets through the winter! Stay tuned for the new schedule!

Soaking in some time with the cows. They head back to their home ranch for the winter soon.

Although we will once again have a small group of our on steers overwintering with us. It wasn’t the original plan, but beef sales have been slower than expected, steer replacement prices insane & we had an exceptional harvest off the pastures (so plenty of winter feed).

We love our boys so we’ll happily care for them through the winter months. But it does call into question what next year will bring… it was less than 8 months ago that we did a major revamp of our farm business. But now, it’s being threatened by the historically high cattle prices.

We feel tired of trying to scramble again. Again. Flexible thinking? That’s all we do. Crazy idea brainstorms? On it.
