Whispering Wind Farms - Kunekune Pigs

Breeding and raising registered Kunekune pigs and offering our amazing Kunekune Pasture Pork. In 2015, we started our journey with Kunekune Pigs.

We are proud to be the first breeder in Alberta and the first in Western Canada to offer Kunekune pasture pork for retail cuts. We are passionate about utilizing this breed for pasture pork and working with pasture pork genetics for size and growth rate. Our herd consists of 20 breeding females and 18 breeding boars. In October 2020, we hit a milestone of celebrating our 50th litter of Kunekunes born on our farm!

We are excited to be back at Sylvan Lake Farmer's Market today from 3-7pm with our amazing pasture pork, raised from birth to finishing and fed no corn or soy. Our BBQ Side Ribs for $12/pkg; Baby Back Ribs for $9/pkg and Tenderloins (2 per pkg) for $15 are finally back in stock but dont wait too long as we sold 40 racks of ribs in just 2 weeks so we don't expect them to be available for long!

We also have our Ground Pork for $7.95/lb and various sizes of bone in Pork Chops on top of our amazing gluten free Salami, Sausages and Garlic Rings!

We also have a brand new Canadian Bacon Jerky - Sweet & Spicy.

We offer an outstanding amount of gluten free items including: Salamis, Sausages, Dry Cured Bacons and our Smoked Ring Sausages. We also have our pork chops, ribs, ground pork with us today.

Its been a stressful couple days. Since last 10 days, I would open tack room door to let momma cats roam around 4pm and then at 9pm would close door for night so they were safe at night. Well came home from market on Wednesday and 4 kittens were missing. I knew Momma K1 had taken them. Momma K2 is the one that had 6 and nursing a majority of them. Debated leaving K2 locked in room with remaining 3 but I was hoping K1 would bring them back... well she did not and took the remaining 3 and did not include her sister in the move. So as of this morning at 7am, 7 kittens were missing, K2 udder is ready to explode. We had searched shelters, inside, underneath under wood piles - you name it. I'm guessing its been a minimum 10 hours searching from myself, Jon and Renee. Well this morning just after I finished feeding barn pigs and I heard them. She had them hidden under a bunch of shaving bags. Now I don't think they been there the whole time and she potentially moved them again last night to this new spot but all 7 are ok and hoping K2's udder feels better now.

Just to say, they are now locked in tack room and they do not get free access to come and go till those buggers are a bit bigger...

Sundre Hospital Futures Foundation are bringing the BBQ trailer and serving hot dogs and hamburgers and will be raffling a awesome side-by-side!

We will be there with our home raised Kunekune Pasture Pork, which includes our gluten free salami and sausages. Will have frozen fresh cuts available including our BBQ Side Ribs for just $12/rack! As well as various specials and bundle packages

Jon installed this door on the chicken barn and its been amazing on these hot days. Later in evening and early ar 6am, I open it wide open to get lots of cool air into the barn.

From Jon working, cutting our lovely hay and me doing markets, chores, taking pigs to processor its been a busy couple weeks!

But this will always bring a smile to my face and appreciate the beauty and how blessed we really are!

The first farmers market of the season starts tomorrow at Bergen from 10am-1pm just 30 minutes west of Didsbury. The exciting part - it has been moved indoors so great outing on the potential rainy day!
