Apparently the girls hadn't had enough cows this weekend. So we worked with cow calf pair and then had picnic with the herd for dinner

The girls had a solid Island Beef Spring Show.

Thanks to the organizers, sponsors and volunteers for making it possible.

Thanks to Brookelyn for letting Emery use Clover for P*e Wee showmanship. She was thrilled and hasn't stopped talking about it.

Highlights:

Em was was Reserve P*eWee showman.

Ainsley won her Showmanship class.
Her heifer was 3rd in split and second in her homegrown class.

Great weather this weekend, but this week isn't looking so great. Calves enjoyed soaking in some rays 😎.

Yesterday was a busy one!

We had great weather to host the Cowichan 4-H Beef Club weigh-in and vaccinations. The members, new and old, learned about what type of diseases their projects may be exposed to and the vaccines that will help protect them. They were also given magnets to reduce the risk of "hardware" disease. Some older members also showed the new members what is involved with showmanship. We even had the cloverbuds take some projects for a lap or two. Thanks Agwest and Dr. Jackie for helping our club.

Later in the afternoon we had a cow and heifer both go in to labour. With our tiny herd we very rarely have two calves on the same day, let alone at the very same time. Thankfully we were able to help both moms with getting their calves out and we have two healthy babies. One big Roan heifer and moderate sized bull. Happy ending to a busy day!

Jem gave us a flashy bull calf today. He is a half brother to Ainsley's 2025 4H steer, Mario.
