Despite being a total failure at filming the process, we’ve been busy making a bunch of fun new soaps! From fresh and clean, to decadent, to super manly (seriously, Rugged Charm has been a total win with the guys!), we have something for everyone! My personal faves at the moment are Love Shack (fruity and floral), and Grand Beach Bum (a warm and relaxing day at the beach), all are available now in our shop!

I know it’s necessary to thin out the carrot seedlings so they actually grow into carrots and not sad little spindly wisps, but it always makes me a little sad 😢 Am I the only one who quietly mourns thinned seedlings?!

Beets, dill, carrots, and lettuce are all coming up! Apparently my lettuce seed was old and had a terrible germination rate, but my carrots were shockingly great. I think setting the sprinkler to go off every morning for them helped tremendously, will be doing that every year going forward for sure! Also, scooped a little wood frog friend out of the pool, he was happy to snuggle in my warm hand for a minute before hopping on his merry way ❤️

Crazy storm last week took down a bunch of willow branches, which we now have to clean up. New thing I learned: willow branches can still produce approximately 80 gajillion tons of fluffs even after they fall off the tree. At least I don’t have allergies 😭

Had the scariest storm I have ever experienced in my life last night, the emergency warning system sent out dozens of “tornado in area” warnings (including one for a MARINE tornado?! Like regular tornadoes aren’t terrifying enough?!) We were lucky, the sump pump kept up with the crazy rain, and nothing got destroyed in the 100kph wind gusts. All my plants even survived, thankfully! And tonight after a much milder thunderstorm, we were treated to a gorgeous sky ❤️ Feeling pretty lucky!!

New garden gadget to make my life so much easier! Instead of screwing around with a leaky hose nozzle and getting my feet wet like a sucker (or risking all my plants turning into crispy critters when we go camping), water timer for the win! We’re still planning on an irrigation pump at some point, but for now this is perfect.

3/5 beds planted! Took some extra time seeing as it was 32 degrees and felt like working inside a furnace, but got it done. The light long sleeved shirt helped tremendously to keep the sun off, beats the heck out of getting sunburnt! Fingers crossed all my little plant buddies survive this heat ☀️

Realized as I finished pouring this that I made a tactical error, and forgot to account for the volume of the tree embed. For the bright colours I wanted in this one, I need to cover and insulate it for the best result (and preferably not mess up the top in the process). Chopsticks to the rescue! 😂 Raised the lid just enough to save the day. And the result came out fabulous!! The other batches did not require chopsticks, pretty stoked how well they all came out!

Step one of expanding the garden and building more raised beds: cut ALL the wood! And yes I know there are like 10 egregious safety violations in this clip, but I promise my fingers were not nearly as close to the blade as it looks 😄
