Opal Pit Boss 19P & Atlasta Barbara Perfection 19K

Peak Dot Big River 3L x Atlasta Barbara Perfection 19K

Miss Barbara surprised me with a set of twin bull calves when she calved this winter. Although I hate leaving both calves on a cow she calved early and I didn’t have anywhere to graft a calf onto plus she took to raising both like it was her full time job. So long story short she has done an absolutely astonishing job with her boys this summer. They are both the same size and you cannot pick them out of the singleton bulls in their pasture. They might be pros at stealing too but I still give all the credit to her as she has big boys and hasn’t lost any condition

These boys Opal Pit Boss 19P and Opal Porterhouse 20P are two peas in a pod and damn near identical. They are also full brothers to a previous sale feature of Opal Nile River 28N and they’re following in his footsteps with their good looks.

If you’re wanting to come out for a herd tour I suggest trying to make it out in the next couple weeks to see the bulls while they’re still on their dams, but they’re close to home after weaning as well!

Opal Platinum Card 4P

Peak Dot Big River 3L x Opal Ms Barnett 8L

This guy is probably my favorite bull calf of the year, but he comes by that honestly as he’s a full brother to Opal Nimbus 26N one of my favorite bulls from the last sale. This guy has a whole lot of muscle and style to him, and I’m thinking he’ll be the heaviest bull come weaning as well!

Speaking of weaning there’s only a couple weeks of the boys being on their moms and I’m sure they’re going to happy to have them weaned, the ladies have been working hard this summer

If you’re wanting to come out for a herd tour I suggest trying to make it out in the next couple weeks to see the bulls while they’re still on their dams, but they’re close to home after weaning as well!

Somehow a month has went by since my last post and since I had the camera out😅 everyone is doing fantastic this summer and I’m very pleased with how things are going. We’ve been keeping busy but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Maybe I’ll get up to date and start highlighting this years bull calves but no promises haha

I’d love to show you around, the beer is always cold and the coffee is always hot, if you’re in the Eckville area give me a shout and stop by for a pasture tour!

Daines Miss Lucy 87H

This snazzy lady is looking fantastic this summer, and she’s got a wicked bull calf on her side sired by HF Payoff 81K. She’s showing off the beautiful landscape and hills my cattle get to roam during the summer.

This years purebred calf crop is sired by two main sires, HF Payoff 81K a direct HF Alcatraz 60F son, and Peak Dot Big River 3L who’s sons were very well received this past spring as sale highlights. I have many full brothers to bulls I sold this spring so I’m very excited!

Calving is done on both the purebred and commercial herds now, breeding season has been going on for a month on the purebred side of things now and the commercials will need to get processed and turned out with bulls here in the next couple weeks. In the mean time here’s some calf photos because why not?!

Here’s some of the current calves on the ground, except the photos are a month old already, time seems to be flying by. Well I’ve been busy increasing my herd bull battery this spring. I couldn’t be happier to have these three new bulls walking the pastures at Opal Cattle Co.
First purchase of the season was Collins Kodiak 2511 and sometimes swinging back to old proven genetics is just what a person needs and he is one smoke show of a bull.
Second up W Sunrise Incentive 237N a bull I couldn’t help but admire greatly when I was down to tour through those pens, when a bull has an end of March birthdate and still holds his own, and if not out powers some of his penmates you can’t help but want to take him home.
And finally today’s purchase Riverside Below Zero 13N, and what a bull he is. I honestly didn’t think I’d have any shot at taking this meat machine home and I couldn’t be happier I had the chance to purchase him out of the great Riverside program!
I’m very excited about the future of these three great herdsires and the impact they will have in my herd. Thank you to Clint and Anna, Tanner and Megan, as well as the whole Stigings Crew for having such great animals and fantastic sales this spring!
