Hello Everyone!!! After all the rain we've recently had, we found a little Oyster mushroom growing in our garden!!! This is the second year we've been adding spent mushroom blocks to our garden to increase soil nutrients and as a path mulch!! We had some mushrooms grow earlier in the spring and last year but didn't get pictures of them. Also, how about those cherry bomb peppers in the background!!?

Reishi is coming along nicely!!! I love how these guys look growing!!!

So yesterday was my 1 year anniversary of starting Rices Gourmet Mushrooms!!! We decided to take the day off and spend it on the North Saskatchewan River with a gold pan. We found a little bit of very small gold and some nice garnets!!! Thank you so much for the encouragement and for being the most amazing partner a fella could ask for. Can't wait to see what the next year will bring us!!!

Oyster mushrooms produce lots of CO² which is heavier than air so having them set up this way is a great way to have a steady supply of fresh air!!!

We harvested the first crop of Blue oyster mushrooms from the community garden bed!!! These guys are from Nevada so they seem to be handling our Alberta weather just fine!!! Thanks very much to the Strathcona Rail Community Garden for providing space to spread the mycelium!!!
