We keep seeing protein products popping up everywhere, but it’s crucial to understand exactly what we’re putting into our bodies. For instance, Costco is currently facing a class-action lawsuit filed this summer for allegedly selling Orgain Organic Protein Powder without disclosing harmful levels of toxic heavy metals.

Amid these concerns, we’re proud to offer a safe and nutritious option: Our signature Pure Cottage Cheese Perogies; aka the Protein Perogies we launched in June. Here’s a little confession: they aren’t something new; we’ve always had them on our shelves.

These perogies are made with the highest quality pure cottage cheese. The best part? By omitting potatoes from the filling, we significantly reduce the carb content. Each serving of seven perogies contains 30 grams of protein, equivalent to a complete protein serving in one meal, and there are only 50 grams of carbohydrates. This ratio is ideal for performance and recovery after a workout.

What makes it even better is that all ingredients are natural, reflecting the culinary traditions Ukrainians have cherished for centuries. So next time you’re in search of a high-protein, nutritious, and safe meal, consider grabbing a bag of DON’YA’s Cottage Cheese Perogies!

Available at DON’YA Ukraine's Kitchen Italian Centre Shop, northcentralcoop, sunterramarket, NAIT

A HUGE thank you to the incredible people at Little Brick & Dog Patch for showing so much love to downtown businesses. 🥹💙💛

Our friends Jay & Jenny came to DON’YA and purchased gift cards to give to people in our community, and that support means more than you know. It’s these little acts of kindness that make such a BIG difference to local businesses. ❤️

Thank you for choosing to support us. We love you! 🫶🇺🇦

Back in April, I met an amazing writer, Lauren Kalinowski. She has Ukrainian roots, like me, but not like me, and if you’re Ukrainian-Canadian, you understand what this means. Essentially, we are kind of frozen in the time of when our ancestors came. The first Ukrainians arrived in Canada in 1898, and each wave brought something different. I’ve met people who immigrated from other parts of the world who also experience this, as the world is constantly evolving no matter where you’re from; however, the memories we hold are always from the last time we were there. I am so honoured to have had the opportunity to contribute to this article, and I hope you get a chance to read it. ❤️🇨🇦❤️

XO,

Janice

🇺🇦 Happy Ukrainian Independence Day! 💙💛

Today, we celebrate Ukraine: its history, its people, its culture, and its unwavering spirit.

August 24 marks the day Ukraine declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. But Ukrainian identity, language, traditions, and culture go back centuries.

Today, independence means so much more than a date in history. It represents the right to preserve a culture, speak your language, celebrate your traditions, and choose your own future.

At DON’YA, we believe one of the most powerful ways to honour Ukraine is to keep sharing it, through food, stories, traditions, and the people who carry them forward. 🥟💙💛

Today and every day, we stand with Ukraine at DON'YA.

З Днем Незалежності України! 🇺🇦
Happy Independence Day, Ukraine. 💙💛

Last week, we welcomed The Honourable Ruby Sahota, Secretary of State (Combatting Crime), to our kitchen, and even got her rolling up her sleeves to make varenyky (perogies) alongside our team! 🥟🇺🇦🇨🇦

It meant so much to be one of her stops during her short visit to Edmonton. Secretary Sahota was in Edmonton to discuss the government's efforts to combat crime and support a safe, thriving city.

Safe communities are essential to a strong economy, which we value at DON'YA. Secretary Sahota said it best: DON'YA is proud to represent community, resilience, and Ukrainian hospitality in action.

We're so grateful she made time for us, listened to our story, and met our incredible team. Дякуємо, Secretary Sahota! 💛💙 We can't wait to have our products available to you in Ontario.
