🇵🇹 🚨 Tasting Alert 🚨 🇵🇹
Bruno Ramos of Mouchão Thursday, September 24, 7pm, $70.00
Herdade do Mouchão is a legendary historic family-owned winery located in Portugal’s Alentejo region, near the village of Casa Branca, that has been associated with the Reynolds family for more than a century (6 generations). The estate was developed in the late 19th century when the first vineyards were planted and a traditional winery building was constructed, which still serves as the center of production today still being ran by the descendants of the original family whose cellar and vineyard workers have been with them for generations.
The winemaking process is, as it always has been, unhurried. The grape varieties are Alicante Bouschet (some over a century old), Aragonêz, Trincadeira, Castelão are picked by hand and foot-trodden. In the ever-changing world of winemaking, Herdade do Mouchão remains a traditional, family-run winery.
Turning from the asphalt road onto the rustic path that leads to Mouchão is like entering another century. The route is lined with secular eucalyptuses that perfume the air with their fragrance. On the left, there are picturesque vineyards. At the road’s end, the winery comes into view. It is where, for more than 140 years, some of the most renowned and sought after wines in Alentejo have been produced.
Please join us as Bruno Ramos, Director Commercial of Mouchao on Thursday, September 24 @ 7pm as he leads us through six wines from this historic estate, featuring their flagship 2017 Mouchao red (their current release), made from century year old Alicante Bouschet that is gently foot-treading before aging in large barrels crafted from Brazilian macacaúba, mahogany, Portuguese oak, and chestnut. Please book early to avoid disappointment for this stand-up event.
