Bushgarden Farmstead Cheese Bushgarden Farmstead Cheese, Organic Raw Milk, Artisan Cheese, Elgin, Ontario We are a certified organic farm near Elgin milking twenty cows.

We market the milk through Dairy Farmers of Ontario and have obtained artisan processing quota to make our own cheese on the farm. Our milk is pumped a short distance to a small cheese house where the cheese is crafted from the fresh, raw milk and then aged for a minimum of 60 days. s certified organic by Pro-Cert. Our cheese production is inspected for health safety by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

Inspired by the Latvian summer solstice cheese, Jānu Siers (or John's cheese), we have caraway flavored Pilgrimage back at farmer's markets this weekend. The round shape symbolizes the sun and when you eat it you are ingesting some of the power of the sun at the height of its season. The minimally aged caraway cheese combined with beer and fire are staples of the midsummer season. It also goes well with bread and honey from the Brockville or Ottawa Organic Farmers' markets today or the Kingston Memorial Centre Farmers' Market on Sunday. Embrace the heat and sun of the season by not cooking dinner tonight!

For a limited time only, we currently have all six of our flavored Pilgrimage in stock at the same time. From this increasingly stronger Green Peppercorn made last September to Spring batches of Wild Nettles or Cumin from March, as well as Chive & Garlic, Tomato & Garlic, and Bushfire somewhere in the middle. Just waiting now on the summer solstice to break out some Janu Siers (Caraway). Find them all (plus our delicious cheese flavored cheeses too) at awesome local independent retailers as per our website, or this weekend at the Ottawa Organic Farmers' Market, the Brockville Farmers' Market, or the Kingston Memorial Centre Farmers' Market.
