Asparagus is still harvesting extremely well in these warm and sunny days! It might like a shower of rain, though, and so would our other crops.

Sorry, we farmers are hoping and praying for rain this weekend 😊

Did you know???

On our logo, we have a corn cob. And 12 years ago, we opened our roadside market only when corn was ready in early August until the end of October.

Now, we are open starting in May for almost 3 extra months, including the asparagus and strawberry season. Our goal in growing as a farm market usually includes expanding our offerings in these early months as people are eager for fresh produce grown locally as soon as possible!!

Strawberries are now in full bloom. Each of these little flowers will turn into a delicious berry!

When we see full bloom we can anticipate about 3 weeks until our first pick. So my best guess is the first berries will be available in the early 20s of June.

One of our favorite views is the sight of cows and calves on pasture. Happily grazing and sun bathing 🐂

Midday in the greenhouse is HOT. Unfortunately, midday was when I had time to seed the next succession of cauliflower and broccoli. My solution was quite comfortable. Shade, a breeze, and an audio book in the background!!

We just finished putting the 2nd planting of cauliflower and broccoli in the field. Planting 3 and 4 are growing in the greenhouse. This seeding is #5 and will be harvesting in mid September. Two plantings left to seed in order to have fresh picking all through October!

The beautiful bright green color of spring!

Asparagus is harvesting well, and it should be a busy week picking it as the weather looks lovely.

Rhubarb is now available while supplies last (We usually can not keep it at the store steadily as we don't have a huge patch).

We also have more flowers, herbs, and vegetable seedlings available. All 4in pots, $3 each or 4 pots for $10.

We finished planting potatoes yesterday !! 🥔😀

As im planting i can't help but think of the age of this planter. it is a John Deere potato planter from i believe the 1950's and it is still works great !! It's over 80 years old and has done lots of passes up and down fields. To bad it can't tell stories.

Someday an upgrade would be nice but I think nothing can replace the thought of the farmers in the past who sat on the old steel seat and planted.

My grandpa and dad bought this planter about 25 years ago and at that time he drove the tractor and my brother and I sat on the seat. For the last 15 years I've drove the tractor and can think of so many family members or staff who have rode on the old steel seat to help.

It is to bad i do not know more history from this planter but if you have any memories please share. !!

We hope to be digging new potatoes by mid July 😀
