RiverBound Farms We produce chicken and duck eggs from pastured birds, and offer both chick and duckling raising programs in the spring/summer.

We are a small family farm raising heritage breed chickens and ducks for egg production, as well as offering chick and duckling raising programs, chicks and ducklings for flock additions. All of our birds have year-round access to outdoor space to play and forage.

Did you know that ducklings need to be able to get their nostrils wet? They need water deep enough to clean out their sinuses!

By popular request, identifying younger male ducks by voice!

If by 4 weeks you haven’t heard a quack, that’s sign 1. The 2 syllable mwep noise is the next giveaway.

If you’ve made it to week 6 or 7, the raspy voice will be apparent.

*What they need is niacin (vitamin B3) to support their quickly growing legs.

A good duck or waterfowl starter will include all the niacin they need, so you don’t need to supplement with high-niacin foods like peas or brewers yeast.

Peas here are for fun!

It’s time to re-introduce ourselves!

We’re Shiona and Al, the owners and operators at RiverBound Farms. We do it all ourselves, and we work day jobs to support our farming habit, so please be patient with us if we’re a bit slow to respond!

If you’re chatting with the farm, 99% of the time it’s with me, Shiona. If I say I’m going to check with Al, I mean the guy in the second slide, not GPT or Claude 😂.

Al has been a chicken farmer his whole life, and I.. was pretty hesitant around birds before moving to the farm. What started off as six chickens has really evolved over the years!

Now we’re having a ton of fun offering duckling and chick foster programs, and helping people curate awesome backyard flocks.

If you’re able to find your calm, it will settle for you. I’m hoping it works through pictures in reverse, and these sweet faces bring you some calm.
