Bottling a few batches of maple syrup today.... hope you like your syrup dark (It's our favorite!!!) Let us know if you want a bottle or two. We have a few cases of 750ml and 500ml bottles available.

Our label guy retired.. looking for some new waterproof labels from a supplier in Embrun/Russell/Casselman. Local friends... who do you like for small run labels?

Backshed.ca is open for orders... prices / bottle sizes are all up on the site. (Though we do not have 250ml bottled yet....)

A look through the waaay back machine about the old ways of making maple syrup. Essentially the same process now.. we are just using modern equipment and less livestock in our processes.

Boiling tonight. Needed a little something after dinner, so making a hot maple sap pour-over coffee with some fresh roasted coffee from my friend Paul Latreille, Chin Chin Coffee Roasters.

Cool to know that he's roasting coffee right now over by the family farm where we tap some maples.

I'll need some more coffee soon Paul... see you later in the week?

Busy week in the Backshed sugar shed... we got the new evaporator setup, level and ready for a test boil.... troubleshooting the tubing pump system at the farm, and getting buckets on trees. 80 buckets up, 100 taps on the tubes, shed almost ready. Just in time for sap. Bring on the maple!!

(Still going to tap a few more trees in the neighborhood, just waiting on the snow to melt back a bit more..)
