Ahhh…September! Probably my favourite month. Cooler days, rain, sun. All the colours starting to change. Vegetable production is slowing down. Well, most of them. I like to take time to reflect on all the greatness that came out of my fields, the amazing people that show up every Saturday for market and make lists of things that didn’t go so well and changes to make for next season.

When I picture a perfect end of summer/ early fall day, this was it.

Harvest season is one of the best times to experience Salmon Arm’s local food scene.

🍎 This Saturday, check out the Salmon Arm Farmers Market and see what’s in season this time of year.

The regular market features 50+ vendors with farm-fresh food, local beverages and artisan goods. And this week, there’s even more to explore!

🍂 The Fall Youth Farmers Market is happening alongside the regular market, with young entrepreneurs aged 18 and under selling their own homegrown, homemade and handmade creations.

Visitors can also enjoy live music, a corn roast by donation and the Project Grow Youth Garden Contest awards.

It turned out to be a great market day. I feel truly for the abundance of beautiful veggies coming out of my fields and very to you all for continuing to support and have a great rest of the long weekend.

Rainy farm day. Steam juiced 20 lbs of crabapples and started my favourite tomato chilli sauce/jam. To be determined when it’s boiled down. Ventured out when rain was minimal to harvest 😊. This is my favourite time of year. Every plant in full production but also slowing down. I know that makes little sense but… “when I’m not in the garden, I’m in the kitchen making the garden fit into jars”
