We have had time to recover from our Worldly Adventure…. 🇯🇵
And if you know us, you know that this one was WAY out of our comfort zone. But as the old saying goes, you don’t know unless you try. Or as the 4H’ers in our life would say-“learn to do by doing.”
On February 17th, we embarked on an 11 day trip across Japan with Prograin Seeds. We were part of a group of 35 soybean dealers and growers from across Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec.
Ontario alone grows roughly 53% of Canada’s soy. Over HALF of this production is exported to
other countries, Japan being one of them. 🌱
Japan uses soy in fermented products like miso, soy sauce, and natto, and fresh soy products like tofu and edamame. We were able to sample all of the above, and tour a state of the art processing facility. (From field to fork- quite literally, or from field to chopsticks in this case 😉)
Our days were long and action packed-seeing the many tourist attractions and beautiful scenery Japan has to offer. We experienced authentic cuisine, and traditions from a tea ceremony to a Samurai Class and everything in between. 🍱 ⚔️ 🍵
10/10 Recommend.
Things I wont forget about Japan:
1. The traditional diet consists of meat, seafood, rice, veggies, and green tea. (Smart..)
2. Prayer and Meditation are rooted in personal wellness, not specific religion. Religion is not discussed, or separated. (Lovely..)
3. Kindness. Everyone there is SO kind. (We need more of this..)
4. Cleanliness. I dare you to find a piece of garbage in Tokyo. (You won’t..)
5. History and Tradition are honoured in their every day rituals. (Really cool..)
6. Relationships are highly regarded. Personal or business, the Japanese are very fair, honest, and loyal. (How it should be..)
