This isn’t an easy update to share, but one that feels important to do with care.

After a lot of thought, we’ve made the decision not to open for the 2026 season. As we head into spring, there’s still uncertainty around the land, and rather than rush into a season that may not be what it should be, we’re choosing to give the fields the time they need to rest and replenish.

Sarah Grey Pick Farm has always been rooted in the land, and this pause is part of taking care of it properly.

We fully plan to return in future seasons, and we can’t wait for the day we welcome you back to the fields again. Until then, thank you for your continued support, patience, and for being part of this community.

Healthy blooms start in the soil.

Resting fields allow soil structure to rebuild, moisture to stabilize, and microbial life to recover. Beneath the surface, living organisms are doing important work: breaking down organic matter, improving nutrient availability, and strengthening the foundation that future blooms rely on.

What may look like nothing happening above ground is actually a critical phase of regeneration below it. This is how farms protect the longevity of their land and ensure that when flowers do bloom, they’re strong, resilient, and true to season.

If you’re curious about why we’re making these decisions and how soil health shapes the seasons ahead, we’ve shared a full, transparent update on the blog- give it a read by visiting https://www.sarahgrey.ca/letting-the-land-heal-a-transparent-update/

This season at Sarah Grey Pick Farm is going to look a little different.

As a family farm, we’re choosing to let the land lead after years of heavy planting before we took ownership. That means no pre-purchased tickets this spring, and honest, real-time updates as we monitor the field. If the tulips are ready, we may open the field to guests in April with a pay-at-the-gate visit.

There will be limited photography time slots available in the remaining field of tulips, with details coming soon.

Thank you for growing with us and for trusting us to do what’s best for the land and the experience we all love! 🌷💕

Niagara’s identity is rooted in agriculture, from tender fruit orchards to fields of flowers bringing colour and joy.

Today on National Peach Day, we’re celebrating the peachy-pink tulips that bloom across our farm during the spring.

Niagara is known for growing beauty, flavour, and colour in every season and these tulips remind us just how special our region’s growing traditions are - rooted in sunshine, soil, and care.

During the spring, our farm is often filled with laughter, footsteps, and cameras clicking away, but every now and then, there’s a moment of stillness.

This spring snapshot of our purple bicycle prop nestled in the tulip fields reminds us of the quieter side of Niagara’s tulip bloom season. A basket full of flowers, endless rows of colour, and the kind of peace that only a field in full bloom can offer.

We're over here daydreaming about soaking up all of these magical moments once again! 🤩

We love this frame because it reminds us that perspective changes everything!

At the start of this past season, our tulip field was mostly green, but through this frame we saw the bigger picture: the promise of a colourful season ahead.

Just like the tulips, growth often happens quietly at first and when the moment is right, it bursts into bloom. Nature teaches us patience, and this photo is a beautiful reminder of that.

Why do tulips open in the sun and close when it’s cloudy? Well, nature’s little weather readers have a story to tell!

Tulips are heliotropic, which means they follow the sun! Watch closely on a sunny day and you might see them tilt or shift toward the light and even spread their petals out wide. When the sky gets grey or a storm rolls in, tulips close up tightly to protect themselves. It’s not that they’re unbloomed, they’re just being smart.

If you spot a tulip that’s closed but super colourful, it’s likely already fully bloomed, just hiding from the clouds. It might be stunning now, but it won’t last as long in a vase. If you're picking for vase life, look for ones that are a little less open, even if the colour isn’t fully showing yet. Those blooms are still working their magic and will open beautifully once they’re indoors.

Save this post for the next picking season - it'll be here before you know it!
