RAINY DAYS ARE MADE FOR COMFORT. A drizzly day on the northshore of Lake Erie means time for COMFORT FOOD and we are ready for ya. Snyders sweet corn ( they are sold out again!) Fresh peppers and tomatoes from our own gardens. Sourdough treats galore including cookies,cinnamon buns,donuts,bread and more. Gluten free goodies. Chips and dips. Farm fresh lamb and chicken. AND DOWN IT COMES. After spending a day on the ladder taking the roof apart we decided to expedite the demolition. Much easier to take apart on the ground for 2 people that ages add up to over 100 lol. . And at the end you will see why we don't recommend finishing both sides of the walls. Now the fun parts begin :) .ca

F&CKING WEASELS Devastating way to start the day. We opened the meat coop door this morning to find a war zone. Apparently we have a new weasel :( . 30 meat birds dead. More than 1/3 of the flock taken out. Now farm life teaches you all about life and death and it's natural. But to see SUCH A WASTE as weasel just kill and leave the rest to waste. That's what bothers us. If they at least ate the meat it wouldn't be so bad but.... Financial loss yes. Set us back? Sure. But we will recover. Guess it will be early mornings again as weasels seem to hunt at sunrise and so shall we. It's all part of "living the dream" . .ca

END OF AN ERA We bin putting it off for a bit now but yesterday we started the coop rebuild. It was the 1st building we built way back when (has it really bin 11yrs?) and while the coops it self is in good condition the floor is shot. So we are taking it down piece by piece and reuse whatever we can salvage. Sure wish we hadn't built it so good lol. Hopefully we are done in 2 weeks so the girls are back to having the space they are use to. Hope you all follow along on our latest journey! .ca

NIGHT SHIFT Our barn cats (homestead cats) have a busy schedule. They entertainment customers all weekend and hunt vermin all night 7 days a week. Guess they are feeling the Monday blues this morning and sheepishly woke up half way through chores lol. Tough tough life for Bo & Jangles .ca
