Shearing is done and our sheep are looking mighty fine underneath all that fleece 🐑

Our favourite shearer Tim, and his lovely friend John (who it was our first time meeting!) stopped by last night after a long working day to get the sheep all shorn up. We appreciate the dedication and reliability of these talented young men to always show up and do a great job!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, that once you find reliable craftsmen and farmers who do a great job with the skilled farm trades — it is a gift to be able to keep them around.

I am always impressed by the efficiency and kindness of our shearing team. They are truly unbeatable, and it took less than an hour for them to get 20 sheep done which is a testament to their skill and experience.

Thanks again, Tim and John for taking care of our guys + girls 🫶🏻🐑 We love ya!

Fall farm update for all you flower friends! 🫶🏻💐🍁🍂

If you’re new here and haven’t spent fall season with us, welcome! We hope you stick around till spring when the flowers bloom again.

This fall I have lots planned including our winter flower booth opener on November 1st, our road to the Royal Winter Fair, fall garden cleanup, and so much more! That means lots of fun videos to share with you all 🫶🏻🍂

Also, a massive thank you once again to everyone who stopped by this Thanksgiving to grab flowers for your gatherings. We are so grateful and feel so lucky that our flowers get to be enjoyed with family and friends at such a special time of year! 🫶🏻🥹

Looking forward to the rest of what fall has to offer us 🫶🏻

Today is the last day to enjoy our sheep with their wooly coats 🐑

Tim, our amazing sheep shearer, comes tomorrow to shear our sheep. We shear 2x a year, because the growth rate of wool on these guys is crazy! It’s not uncommon to have March + April lambs grow 6+ inches of wool by October!

I like to keep the wool on some of our sheep over winter. Anyone who’s old, very young, lives outside over winter, and/or doesn’t have wool that’s extremely thick is saved till spring. That excludes all of our Valais sheep — they could probably do with being shorn 3x a year in fact since 2 sometimes isn’t even enough!

So, tomorrow all of our expecting mama ewes, our rams, and most of our spring lambs will be getting haircuts! Fair warning — if you’re new here, haircut day is…. Disconcerting 😅🫣 The sheep look like entirely different animals when they’re all done.

Well, it’s finally done ✨

Truly, I wasn’t sure if I’d make it through… 😅🫶🏻

But… our biggest wedding yet, and our market florals are finished and ready for tomorrow morning. I was even able to get some bonus stunning bright thanksgiving bouquets ready for the stand and at the market!! And, we will have lots of pumpkins to choose from of course.

Plus — by popular demand I was able to pick the last Icelandic poppies too 🇮🇸

We may be bleary-eyed tomorrow, but we are so excited to see you Thornbury! 🫶🏻💐🍁🎃

Happy Thanksgiving Saturday flower friends 🫶🏻💐🍁

It’s hard to believe we are halfway through the weekend already. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about availability — we are open and stocked everywhere we sell flowers 🧡

Flower booth is fully stocked and will be restocked all day today and through Monday (unless we sell out and don’t have any left, which I don’t really anticipate happening. We are making more pumpkins as needed).

We are also at the Flesherton and District Farmers' Market today, Saturday, from 9-1 and the Thornbury Farmers Market tomorrow, Sunday, from 10-2. You’ll find our pumpkins in both places 🎃💐

We are running very low on bouquets, but this weekend is really all about the pumpkins 😅

💐🎃 It’s Pumpkin Mania 🎃💐

Starting TOMORROW, we are in full blown Thanksgiving mode at the flower farm!

Although a hard frost killed many of our crops, we were able to pivot and will be stocked for thanksgiving. We harvested absolutely as much as we could from our gardens, and we have also placed an extra wholesale order (with local blooms that are commercially grown in Ontario greenhouses). This means that some flowers you see in the stand this weekend won’t be from our farm, but will still be from local Ontario growers 🫶🏻

If you’re looking to pick up a bouquet, or one of our signature pumpkin arrangements, here’s where to find us this weekend!

We will be at the:

📍 Flesherton and District Farmers' Market this Saturday from 9-1 with our thanksgiving offerings

📍 Thornbury Farmers Market this Sunday from 10-2 with our thanksgiving offerings (THORNBURY CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE: our market special that we have been offering over the summer season will NOT apply this Sunday due to having to pivot and order some wholesale flowers. Pumpkin arrangements + bouquets will be regularly priced at $25.00 each)

We have brought in some lovely new notions just in time for thanksgiving.

🐝🍯 Honey 🍯🐝

Our lovely neighbours have three beehives and have collected an astounding amount of honey this year. We are helping them out by offering their honey in the stand! It is available in two sizes:

Small — $10.00 each
Large — $18.00 each

Now… last time we had honey available in the stand, we had to pull it off the shelves due to an insane amount of theft. IF THIS HAPPENS EVEN ONCE, we will be doing the exact same thing. Thankfully, our camera and police reporting have significantly helped the issue, so I truly hope no one tries anything.

The frost.

He may creep in tonight, slowly but sure. He may afford us another week, or two, before he comes to stay.

Whatever happens, we are ready. Ready for thanksgiving, ready for pumpkin arrangements, ready for this change. Ready for the end of the season. Ready to let go and let nature take it from here.

While I will be very sad to see the blooms fade for another season, I’m so grateful // a fitting feeling for this time of year. Grateful for our people, grateful for our farm, grateful for our health, grateful for our family, grateful for our customers, grateful for our animals — grateful for every little bit of it.

We have cut as many blooms as we possibly can. Whatever the morning brings, we will be ready.
