Our Markdale Fall Fair results!! 💐🌻
Last year was our first year entering the fall fair as some of you may remember. I brought home a third place, for my Dahlia Under 6”, and didn’t place in my floral design entry. I had no idea what to expect, and I was definitely humbled with my results 😅 (rightfully so, because the winners were amazing!!).
I am a very competitive person, so this year I decided to take my time, select the best blooms, and really put forth less of a rushed effort than last year. I went into things with zero expectations. And it seems to have paid off!
We received the following results:

🥇 3-Stems, Any Annual
🥇 3-Stems, Zinnia
🥇 Miniature Bloom
🥈 Floating Bloom
🥈 Dahlia, over 6”
🥉 3-Stems, Marigold
And, our Five Stems Any Variety didn’t place!
I am so very proud of our results this year! It is so much fun to enter such a wonderfully run competition. All of the floriculture exhibits were amazing and I am so proud of everyone else who entered!
I was mentioning to one of my friends while dropping off my exhibits that it was “just a fall fair” and that I shouldn’t be so stressed about my entries. But after reflecting on it, it’s not “just” a fall fair.
It’s hard work, dedication, and time put into these blooms.
It’s putting yourself out there into the world to be judged.
It’s being proud of your accomplishments and learning from your setbacks.
It’s sharing in a love of gardening with so many other people.
It’s appreciating the hard work of all the volunteers and organizers who work so diligently to put all of this together.
