The Stardust Gardens cinematic universe is expanding to two locations tomorrow.

Half of us will be in Komoka. Half of us will be in Goderich. The vegetables have been divided accordingly.

Every day is earth day 🌎

So you planted a bunch of natives to support the wildlife, and something is eating all the leaves;
Congratulations, you have wildlife 😭

We plant natives to support the bugs and critters that live here, which unfortunately means sometimes they’re gonna eat them lol. Caterpillars especially need host plants to eat and grow, and in turn they feed birds and other wildlife.

If everything in your pollinator garden is completely untouched, nobody got the memo that the buffet was open 🐛

Farmers secrets 🤫

The fun thing about picking beans is that your reward is more beans 🫘

If you leave the pods on the plant long enough to mature, the plant starts putting its energy into making seeds instead of making new flowers. If you keep picking them while they’re young, it just keeps making more.

So keep picking your beans if you want them to keep producing.

Unfortunately they can sense when you think you’re finally caught up.

Originally Gwen ' Stardust Gardens was my competition, when I started selling rare and unusual heirloom veggies at the Forest Farmer's Market, but we quickly became friends, and I recognized how much I could learn from Gwen about Market Gardening. And what l learned is: there's a LOT to learn! If you can't beat 'em, join 'em: I've worked for Gwen ever since! I especially love that Gwen's emphasis is on environmental responsibility: reducing plastic and chemicals in the soil. And I love that her whole team is smart, strong women: great role models for my daughters who run the 3D Printing business at the Forest Farmer's Market. Hope to see you there!

We’ll have a selection of native plants harvested from our own sugarbush looking for new homes!

Come by, say hi, talk plants with us, and find something new to add to your garden. Whether you’re looking to bring more native species into your yard, support local pollinators, or just want to see what we’ve got, we’d love to see you there. 🌿

And yes, taking home a plant (or five) is encouraged.
