Harvested the last of the Habanadas today and made this wide and wild bouquet. Right in the center was the single rudbeckia flower I had and i love how it looks with the yellow Brazilian Starfish which has turned to purple and orange from the cold temps.
Lots of randoms in here from red veined sorrel, anise hyssop, raspberry sage, eucalyptus, yarrow etc…

After a couple good frosts this week my peppers and most flowers are done. But I was able to round up one last bouquet with fresh chiles.
And how beautiful is this combination of Aji Challuaruro, gomphrena and Snapdragons? The colours against the chicken coop look photoshopped!
It was also the first season in a while that I was able to harvest all my ripe peppers before a frost. The last to do were the Brazilian Starfish.

A small harvest considering the number of plants I grew but they are some of the nicest I’ve grown. Nearly all of the poblano have already mostly turned red. A few days at room temp and they will be perfect for the dehydrator and ready to be called Ancho chiles.

A message for our chefs. On today’s fresh sheet you will see a chinense mix available. This is that mix. Chinense are a “family of peppers” specifically a species and they range from mild to the hottest in the world. You’ll find chiles as mild as Habanada and as hot as the pepper x in this family.
The mix we have available to order starts mild with pimentos and caps off at habanero level. There are no extra-super hots in here.
Makes a wonderful aromatic ferment.
A few chiles you’ll find are Manzano Habanero, chocolate Morado habanero, Apricot Habanero, Bahamian Goat, KS Lemon Starburst, Scotch Bonnet, Pimento Green and Red, Datil etc….
If you are part of our CSA and looking for some as well please send us a message for either 1/2 lb or 1 lb bag for next weekends pick up. Thanks!
