The wood stove. It’s a a central point of our home. Not necessarily physically but metaphorically. Not only does it heat our home and cook our food it’s just where we gather. Where I sit and read or drink my tea. Sometimes where we cook our food. Where we dry our gear. Where Finley goes IMMEDIATELY upon getting up (even when it’s not on). These cold dark days are daunting and every day is getting a bit brighter now but slow mornings next to the stove is where you’ll find me from November until spring.
