At Fairfolk Farm we produce fruit and veggies for farmers markets. We are also a tourism destination with a bed and breakfast.

Everyone is excited to go outside in the morning. This is one of several coops we have, each with their own run. We keep the chickens (and turkeys) separated in 'coop-groups' so we can keep track of how old they are. All of the groups are let out to roam the yard from time to time, but never together. This group consists of our 'babies' from this summer as well as the turkeys. They aren't yet laying eggs, but hopefully soon.

This year is rhe first year our old plum tree produced a significant amount of plums, and I was able to make plum jam and a pie. Previous years we have gotten maybe a handful of plums. The previous owners, who planted the tree, told us it used to produce lots. It must have really liked the excessive amounts of water and cooler temperatures this year. I don't often see this kind of plum around here and still haven't figured out what it's called. If anyone recognizes this variety, please let me know what it is.

We got Star Host status on Hipcamp. This means we are getting nothing but great reviews from the people staying with us.
We rent out our cabin both on AirBnb and on Hipcamp, and have had Super Host status on AirBnb for almost 2 years. Now our efforts have also been recognized on Hipcamp. 🙌
The cabin is open to rent from April 1st to early January, and is a great place to spend a weekend away in solitude or with loved ones.
This winter, I will be working on our agritourism business plan, as we plan on expanding what we offer over the next few years.

We got turkeys this year. Started wirh just 6 little babies, and they are now almost grown. One male and five females. Its been super fun, and turkeys are incredibly curious birds. Here is the tom all fluffed up for one of the hens, who's clearly not impressed.

🤦‍♀️ From having a super smart fox that we've finally managed to keep out of our chicken runs, to getting a visit from this jerk. We luckily only lost one chicken last night, but since I saw it again this morning, all chickens are in lock-down till I manage to put up netting. It will be a pretty boring day for our chickens to be locked away in their coops. But better that than being eaten.

Chick number 9 hatching. This is really sped up. The whole process took about 10 minutes. And that was after a couple of hours of it working to create the initial whole in the shell.

We've been having an issue with something taking our chickens, and last night we finally caught the culprit on camera. We've been fixing and adding to our fencing over the past year and been very confused about what was able to get in. No signs of digging under the fence and no ability to either because of our fencing. I didn't think foxes could jump a fence this high, but here we are. Now to add to our fence again. *sigh*

Our garlic is coming up nicely this spring. It was overall a late spring, but all around us, plants and animals are working hard to catch up.

Finally seeing some flowers and insects around the farm. It felt like forever for the snow to melt, but now we are finally digging, seeding, planting, and setting things up for the season.
