Maple Sweet Potato Chili (GF/DF/Paleo) - 6qt Slow Cooker Recipe

2-3 lg sweet potatoes, cubed
3-4 carrots, sliced
1 red onion, chopped
1 can (796ml) diced tomatoes
1 can (369ml) tomato paste
3/4 cup chili powder*
1 tsp oregano*
1 tsp thyme*
1 tsp summer savoury*
1-2 tbsp minced garlic*
2 tsp pink himalayan salt*
1-2 tsp fresh ground black pepper*
2 tsp garlic powder*
1/2 cup maple syrup
5 cups beef broth
2-4 bay leaves
2 lbs ground beef, browned

Toss in crockpot and cook on low for 8 hrs, or high for 4-6 hours, or until sweet potatoes are soft. Top with cilantro if you like! Yields 8-12 servings.

*Adjust seasonings to taste.

Come out to our sugarbush from 10-5 on April 2&3. It’s the only weekend we are open to the public and we are looking forward to seeing so many of our local customers.

** IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT **

Many thanks to our loyal customers for continuing to support us.

It is with regret that we announce price increases beginning April 1. $25 for a litre & $15 for a half litre.

A number of factors informed this decision, including poor weather conditions across the province for syrup production and the significant cost increases in producing syrup.

It is our desire to continue to deliver our product to your table.

Syrup will continue to be available at the roadside stand. Pay at the road or arrange to send an etransfer. If you would like a special order please let us know and we will leave it at the roadside stand for you. We will also continue our local delivery option.

Our Story

In the spring of 2009 retired teacher Frank Haveman resurrected a hobby from his 20s - making maple syrup. Since then he’s grown his operation to over 1200 taps on a pipeline system as opposed to the old traditional metal pales and he evaporates in an 800 square foot sugar shack all set on 75 rolling acres in Quinte West, Ontario. He produces syrup made to the highest quality and standards, good for those with a sweet tooth and those looking for a 100% natural sweetener with antioxidant health benefits!
