Well folks the world lost a good one today. It is with deep sorrow that I let you know after a year long battle with cancer the passing of my dad Terry Grimson. He fought it the whole way and never ever complained even once. He told me when I was young that I needed to learn how to fix things and know about things because one day he wouldn't be here. Well that day has come. Thank you for everything that you have taught me and everything you have done for me. Your work down here is done. Rest easy dad. I'm going to miss you.

In the fields tonight running the Farmall finger weeder through the potato crop. They are starting to come up and are looking good. I haven't posted much lately but all crops have been pretty much planted and with the rain and warm weather things are coming up like onions and soybeans. Also the cucumbers, peas, squash and green /yellow beans are up (not pictured) so far so good! 🌱

It was sun up until sun down today planting soybeans. I was able to get all fields finished. It was a long day filled with dust, diesel, and a lot of hours in the tractor, but happy to see it all done. Thankful for such a good day to get the crop in the ground. 🌱🚜

Back in the field tonight until after dark. Working on planting the Huckleberry Gold potatoes. Those are our diabetic potatoes. Was able to get the Kennebecs finished on Saturday. Now going to be on hold for a bit as it looks like some very cool and wet weather will rule for the next 10 days or so. πŸ₯”

The Kennebec seed is all cut and I'm in the field this afternoon starting to plant. This year things are a little bit different. When I don't have help to operate the planter I have installed a camera system to be able to see bin levels and the picker area to make sure everything is working correctly. This is the first year since I started doing potatoes that my dad has not been back there to help. As some of you may know dad has been in the hospital battling since mid December. Please keep him in your prayers that he may be able to come home sometime soon . πŸ₯”πŸŒ±πŸ™

β›³ Manitoba Merv Bucks the Trend ❄️

The predictions are continuing to be made; the latest of which comes from Manitoba Merv. He did in fact see his shadow and is therefore forecasting 6 more weeks of winter.

Current Results:
❄️ Winter Stays: Manitoba Merv
🌸 Early Spring: Shubenacadie Sam, Lucy the Lobster, Fred la Marmotte, Wiarton Willie

That makes it four predictions for early spring and one for 6 more weeks of winter, but there is still one last major forecaster yet to chime in!

Still to come:

- Balzac Billy in Balzac, Alberta at 8 AM MT

What do you think; will Merv be the odd one out or will Billy also predict an extended winter?
