The truth is, we’re having a bit of a tough go here in July at our farm.

July is typically the quietest month of the year for our business, and it often feels like a bit of a struggle to keep the lights on here at the farm in the early summer. All of our crops need continuous weeding and watering (especially in these drought/like conditions!) and maintenance, yet the majority of them are still a few weeks from blooming. The days are long, hot and dry, and it can start to feel harder and harder to push through.

Two July’s ago, our payroll was 110% of our sales in July, not including any of the other fixed costs we have here at the farm. We’ve made a lot of difficult changes here over the last couple of years, in order to make July a little more manageable, but we’ve had a bit of a roadblock.

🚚 Earlier this month the engine went down our 8 yr old delivery van, a key piece of infrastructure here at the farm that we can’t do without. Last July we lost our other delivery van, due to a blown transmission that rendered it not worth fixing. So, we were already down to just one van. We’re finding ourselves in between a rock & a hard place.

We can’t afford to replace the engine right now, but we’re also not in a position where we can afford a monthly payment on a replacement vehicle.

So, we’re getting creative!😅
