Some people got through construction season with a little patience.

We got through it by making friends with the construction crew. 😂🦺

Over the summer, the guys working around the Construction District went from strangers behind the barricades to familiar faces, regulars and part of the neighbourhood.

And then there was SOUP GUY. 🍲
Somehow, he went from construction worker to local celebrity, fan favourite and unofficial Construction District mascot. ⭐️

Honestly, we’re not sure what we’re going to do when construction ends and we don’t see him every day.

Proof that even when construction gets messy, something pretty great can come out of it: community, friendships and a few local legends. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to The Construction District this past weekend to celebrate Harvest Music Festival and support our local businesses. ❤️

There’s something pretty special happening downtown.

St. Louis Bar & Grill - Fredericton recently thanked their incredible staff for all their hard work with a staff party catered by Scout’s Original Sandwich Shop at Flippin’s Barcade.

Before construction, we never would have imagined that competing businesses would become friends, collaborators and teammates — or that customers would happily take a detour to keep showing up for local.

But that’s exactly what has happened.
Your support this summer has meant jobs have been protected, businesses have stayed busy, and our restaurants have been able to make it through the season that helps carry them through the tougher months ahead.

And this is what the Construction District has become: businesses supporting businesses, staff supporting staff, and a community that refuses to let construction stop us from showing up for one another.

Our staff have worked incredibly hard to serve you all summer, and they deserve to celebrate. Nights like this are possible because you kept showing up.

So, Fredericton — thank you. ❤️
We’ve got just over a month to go. Please keep showing up, keep taking the detour, and keep supporting the businesses and people who make downtown Fredericton what it is.

Tonight, Scout’s Original Sandwich Shop is catering the St. Louis Bar & Grill - Fredericton staff party — and honestly, how cool is it that businesses that could have been seen as competitors have become teammates, collaborators, and genuine supporters of one another?

We’ve shared customers, sent people through each other’s doors, collaborated, cheered each other on, and found ways to keep downtown buzzing through a challenging season. What started as “getting through construction” has turned into relationships we know will last long after the barricades come down.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has continued to show up, eat local, and keep us busy this summer. You’ve made it possible for us to keep doing what we love — serving this city. ❤️

So keep coming out. Keep supporting the businesses you love. Keep exploring the Construction District.

Because we’re not just getting through construction together — we’re building something that lasts. 🏗️❤️
