As it turns out, Bosco was an undercover brother all along. So now I have two roosters! It took me forever to figure that out though, because Bosco took his sweet time showing his true colours. He’s still just as sweet, and still wants to hang out on my shoulder. He also hasn’t made so much as a peep in the presence of my other rooster and they get along great. Will Bosco ever start to crow? Stay tuned.

It was bound to happen eventually. I now have my very first rooster. He’s just a six week old teenager at this point, but his prepubescent practice crows are coming out like someone is pinching him on his bum bum. It’s god damn adorable. Please welcome Uncle Iroh to the flock!

I sadly lost my funniest/quirkiest chicken the other day, Ziggy Stardust. There was no predator attack or illness, she was fine one moment and then just dropped dead the next. A natural and instantaneous death is the best you can hope for a chicken, but I’m still going to really miss her. She was a consummate escape artist and I was constantly finding her inside stealing the cat’s food every opportunity she got. Rest in peace Ziggy. You were an original.
