I went for a walk through the patch tonight and was surprised to find this little gem!

Every day we are getting closer to the berry season! 🍓

Usually, first flower means 6 weeks until the picking season begins....I can't wait!

We have had 1 week of sunshine!☀️

And the strawberries are loving it. 🍓

They are still a week or more from flowering, while normally they would be blooming by now. My guess is a later picking season this year.

But I will keep you posted!

Busy mother's Day weekend at the farm!

Today we will be planting the berries (so drive by and share a honk if you want to see how it is done). 🍓

In-between the planting and throughout the weekend we will be uncovering the berries!

❓ Why do we cover them? ❓

To help protect them from the cold of the winter.

❓ Why do we uncover them?❓

Too much straw would prevent them from growing back as nice in the spring.

❓ Why do we leave some straw? ❓

It helps keep the berries clean and weeds out. Plus it is nicer to pick berries kneeling on straw, then on dirt!

He may be sleepy now but I'm sure he will be happy to help you pick strawberries in a couple months. 🍓

And by pumpkin season he will eagerly show you the best pumpkins. 🎃

He gets paid in pets and cuddles! 😄

I love summer but fall is a close second!

I was out weeding today. I also spend some time taking in the last of the flowers before the frost this week.

My back may be sore but my heart is full.

The winding trails through the patch are evidence of the fun that was had this weekend!

As the pumpkins find new homes on front porches and dreams of the faces that will be carved on them start, I want to take a moment to thank everyone.

It takes a number of people to help put on this event and an amazing community to support it!

To all of you, THANK YOU, you filled this gardeners heart!
