Baking Brings Joy!

From the time I could push a stool up to the counter, I have enjoyed baking food. Cookies. Cakes. Cupcakes. Pies. Cobblers. Quick breads. Yeast Breads. Candies. It was in my DNA. First it was with my mom, my sisters, my grandmothers, and my aunts. Baking was a way of life on both sides of our family. As a pre-teen, I enjoyed participating in 4-H and all the food shows. In high school, I loved Home Economics class and entered and won the yearly pie contest. In post high school studies, my first degree was a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics.

After Larry and I married, I found life on the farm here in Alberta conducive to baking. The people of the towns of St. Paul, Glendon, and Bonnyville have welcomed me and made me feel so at home. Offering goods at local farmers markets became a natural choice for a part-time business. Baking specialty desserts releases my creative spirit and fills a niche in the market. There is always more to learn and more to offer.

I sure hope that you will look over the menu of offerings for Fancy Cookies & Cakes. When you’re out and about St. Paul on a Friday, stop by my table at the farmers market for the sample of the day or just to chat. I’d love to meet you and hear about your family and your favorite desserts.
