Did you know that you can start your cucumbers and squash indoors and transplant them out after last frost.

We do this to get a head start on the season. The key thing is that when you plant them out into the garden, to be extremely gentle with their roots. Gently plant them in the soil and you will be set.

If you are too rough with the roots, the plant will stall growth for a number of weeks, hence losing your advantage of starting early.

Our first attempt at collard green seed production. Collards are a biennial seed crop so they only produce seed every two years. We had to overwinter these in the greenhouse to get them to flower.

Fingers crossed it works and we have seed this fall.

If you want consistent lettuce all season long, you can start lettuce heads indoors, then transplant out when the weather warms up.

Lettuce can be direct seeded or transplanted so you have lots of options for several timelines of lettuce to harvest all throughout the year.
