🎃 Giant pumpkin update!

Our Atlantic Giant plants have a few pumpkins growing, but this is the one we’re putting a little extra effort into getting huge!

We’ve removed the other pumpkins from the vine so all the plant’s energy can go into this one. We’ve also raised it off the ground to help prevent rot and other issues.

Hopefully, we’ll have a real giant by Halloween! 🎃

🍖 🌟 NEW 🌟 Sunnydale meats - Jerky, snack sticks, and bacon still available. Farmer sausage and smokies are sold out for this week but can be ordered!

We’re now carrying a small selection of Sunnydale Meats, and as we expand, we’d love to hear what you’d like to see us stock!
Starting today, we have a limited selection of Spiced Bacon, Smokies, Mennonite Farmer Sausage, assorted Jerky, and Snack Sticks.

How about that! 🍈 Our honeydew and cantaloupe actually have fruit!
We didn’t plant many this year, just a few leftover plants from the plant sale, so these were a pretty fun surprise to find hiding under the vines. Now we just have to hope they have enough warm weather left to finish ripening! 🤞🌱

🍯 A little honey harvest surprise!
Some of our late-season honey is already starting to crystallize before it’s even capped! This can happen when the bees are bringing in nectar from flowers that produce honey naturally higher in glucose, such as canola, goldenrod or asters.
Once it crystallizes in the comb, it doesn’t spin out of the extractor very easily, so today’s harvest ended up a little smaller than we expected. We’ll save those frames and let the bees enjoy that honey as extra food in the spring. 🐝
What did come out is noticeably thicker and creamier than our first harvest, which makes it a perfect candidate for some delicious creamed honey. 😋🍯

Checked on the bees tonight and there’s lots of beautiful capped honey in the works! 🐝🍯
We’ll likely give them another week or so to keep filling and finishing these frames before our next harvest. At this point in the season it’s a bit of a balancing act, giving them time to make honey while also making sure they have plenty of time and resources to prepare for winter.
This will probably be our last honey harvest of the year, so the next batch of fresh Flying App honey should be coming soon! 💛

🥒 Cucumber season is in full swing!

Our indoor cucumbers are really starting to hit their stride! The cucumbers in these photos were grown right here indoors, which means they'll be one of the crops we can keep producing year-round. 💚

And for now, our outdoor plants are producing too, so we should have plenty of fresh, crunchy cucumbers coming from both inside and out for a while yet!

The calm before the roast! 🐖🔥
Cleaning, prep and some setup are already done. The roaster is here, the pig is prepped, and now it’s time to tackle the rest for tomorrow - tables, tents, chairs and, of course, lots of food!
It’s all coming together. Can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow! 🎉
