Rex takes his position as field supervisor very seriously.

The herd is out in the hay field, and it’s always a battle - wildlife that cares not for our electric fence; cows that think the grass is greener on the other side; calves that haven’t yet figured out how a gate works to follow their momma; the weather and our ability to continue putting posts in the ground; & our determination to rotationally graze and not just give up and feed hay early 😂

We always make it through, but sometimes it’s a real struggle. Checking fence every morning is pretty easy when the sun is shining and the trees are burning gold.

Pumpkin Pie Bars 🤤
Posting the not-so-pretty test bake I whipped up yesterday while attending a meeting online, because time management isn’t my thing and it was a long day 😴 Apparently I didn’t mix it well enough for the spices to properly incorporate.
However, it’s amaaaazing 😍 turned out just how I hoped. This version used cream & eggs from the homestead, and a whole soft white wheat flour. The market version requires some adjustments for rule-following & costs sake. Organic flour is priceyyyyy 😬

Pumpkin Pie Bars will be available for market & thanksgiving delivery this month. Regular & gluten friendly versions!

Kaleb says if we brought this to market, it would sell out like 🫰, so fast. What do you think? 🤔

Never wanted to join a gang more in my life. These are the cool kids.

Meatball promptly came to lick my boots and beg for scratches 😂 The calves are getting curious, but wouldn’t get too close because it was trying to get the visiting horned dexter not to impale me 🙃 that was fun. I love dexters, but why are so many of them insane?!?!

Garden harvest is going pretty well considering it’s very late, it’s been neglected for quite some time, and all that green you see in the background is thistle.
