It feels very strange to light a fire to keep the house comfortable in mid June. It is a very welcome sight to see the smoke from the chimney after a rainy milking in the field, though.
You truly can’t make an Albertan happy with any weather. The rain has been welcome, but I’m looking forward to some nice sunny days coming up ☀️
Our pastures haven’t looked this good in years, and the cows are some happy 😊

“I don’t know how you do it all”

The thistle wins every year, y’all 😂
June is such a busy month on the homestead, especially when the milk cow is bred to calve at the beginning. Many balls are dropped, my poor plants waiting to be planted are struggling. Those in the ground are struggling to compete lol. Weeding and mulching is on the to-do list. It’ll get done one day 🤷🏼‍♀️

The nights I dream of in the cold months 💖

Except the part where there is ALWAYS a steer calf that doesn’t understand to follow the herd when finally moving to pasture 😮‍💨🤦🏼‍♀️ Every. Dang. Year.
Eventually went with the herd in their new location but it was not a good time.
It was followed by a quiet, in field, sunset milking which is literally what my dreams are made of - so it wasn’t all that bad in the end.
