Meet the Vendor: Jewels Under The Kilt 💎

Jewels Under The Kilt is led by Elisabeth Burrow: founder, president and chief roaster. The business has a nut and fruit orchard in Fergus, Ontario and uses a patented process that uses maple syrup as a preservative, not a sweetener. These nuts are incredibly versatile and delicious—they can be used in salads, for charcuterie boards, paired with cheese and so much more.

We were thrilled to welcome Toronto Argonauts Kendall Randolph, Domenico Piazza and Keegan O’Neil to Rowe Farms in Guelph! The Argos are currently here for spring training, and we couldn’t have been happier to see them in store. These incredible athletes picked up some Ontario beef steaks and were gracious enough to take a photo with manager Colleen. M Thompson Chocolates was established in 2010 in the Leslieville neighbourhood of Toronto. All of their gourmet chocolates are made by hand using traditional techniques like copper kettle cooking, using only fresh natural ingredients and the highest quality couverture chocolate.

Meet the vendor: McRory Honey 🍯 🐝

Doug McRory studied apiculture and entomology at the University of Guelph. After years of beekeeping experience, he became the Provincial Apiarist of Manitoba, and later (for over 30 years and until his retirement) was Ontario’s Chief Provincial Apiarist. A beekeeper for almost 50 years, he has produced some of Ontario’s finest honeys.

Doug’s manages almost 600 beehives in 25 bee yards in the Guelph, Kitchener and Cambridge areas. He is also a preeminent breeder of Ontario Queen Bees. Rowe Farms is proud to work with this awesome local brand—look for them in store or ask a Rowe Farms team member for help finding this amazing honey!

Meet the vendor: Polestar Hearth

This awesome local business handcrafts naturally-leavened sourdough breads from organic, Canadian grains. Their breads are made from the simplest ingredients: flour, water, sourdough culture and sea salt. Polestar Hearth began as a cottage industry making bread the slow, old-fashioned way: baked in a brick oven by Guelph’s own Blair Cameron.

After nine years of backyard baking, the business moved to a street-front shop, and now employs a team of a dozen craftspeople who care about food, community and really good bread. Every Thursday and Saturday, four amazing sourdough varieties are available at Rowe Farms: spelt, sesame whole wheat, super seed and country loaf.
