There are things you don’t always hear about in the headlines 📰

I was told by a woman in Gaza that she had to make a difficult decision, whether to use the little money they had received in donations to buy food for her children, or to buy insect repellent so they could even sleep at night.

She also shared that wood is too expensive, so she had to burn her own clothes just to be able to light a fire and bake bread for her family.

These are the kinds of stories that rarely reach us.

And while people may look “okay” from the outside, we don’t know what is hidden underneath, skin issues, infections, and illnesses caused by heat, poor hygiene, insects, and complete lack of fresh water.

Pakistan Cooks for Gaza is our small way of refusing to look away. A way to turn awareness into action, even in a small room with a small group of people.

100% of proceeds from this class will go directly to supporting a family in Gaza. 🇵🇸

With every bite, there’s a story behind it.

Food has always been more than just what’s on the plate for me.. it’s memory, it’s heritage, it’s how I stay connected to where I come from.

Palestine in a Bowl was created from that place. From the salads I used to make in my ghost kitchen, to the recipes my mom made for us growing up, to the flavors I kept coming back to over the years.

This book also carries something deeper. 10% of the sales goes directly to support a family in Gaza. In April that amounted to $20. Thank you to every one who supported this humble project. Here hoping for a better May.

The past few weeks have felt like a little bubble 🫶

Welcoming our baby girl has been the most beautiful and humbling experience. It’s a kind of love and responsibility you really can’t put into words, equal parts magical and challenging in ways we’re still learning to navigate.

In the middle of all that, the sweetest surprise showed up from our family. A basket filled with goodies from different vendors, along with a card signed by so many of you… we were honestly so touched. Truly. It’s one thing to be part of a market, but this kind of care and thoughtfulness is something else entirely.

Thank you to each and every vendor who contributed and took the time to send your love. It was the most beautiful gesture, and we’ll never forget how it made us feel in such a special season of our lives 🤍

Being part of this community has always felt special, but moments like this really remind us.. it’s bigger than just a market. It’s a family, and we feel so lucky to be part of it.

We took a little 3-week break to soak in these early days, and while it was so needed, we really missed it.. the vendors, the customers, the familiar faces, all of you.

We’re so excited to be back this Saturday (with a few more baby pics of course 🥹). And one day soon, inshallah, she’ll be right there with us at the booth.

New at 🥳🥳

Growing up, fool (fava bean dip) was a Friday morning thing. It’s the kind of breakfast you sit down for, family around the table, fresh bread, olive oil, veggie plate, everyone just scooping and eating together. In the Levant, there are even restaurants that only serve fool and hummus… that’s how much of a staple it is. So bringing this to feels special.

If you’ve had it at the market, you know.. it’s hearty, filling, packed with protein + fiber, and actually keeps you going. Not one of those “I’m hungry again in an hour” meals.

My favorite way? Warm it up, drizzle good olive oil, and scoop it with some sourdough 🥖 But also works in a wrap, sandwich… whatever your day looks like.

Go grab a tub from along some of their delicious sourdough and try it for yourself, and tell me, are you a warm it up person or straight from the tub? 👀
