Today the truck arrived from Quebec with sucrose for our bees and other beekeepers.
So why do we feed our bees sucrose?
In our area, golden rod and aster is the dominant fall honey flow and is high in indigestible solids, which can be hard on the bee’s gut, especially when it is too cold to go out and take a bathroom break during the winter months. The bees will take the sucrose and fill every empty cell in the hive.
Liquid sucrose is pure clean energy for the bees, is completely digested by the honey bee and leaves no residue in the gut.
