I have sourced a stock of Oak firewood for this year. Barbecue is often made with pure oak wood for flavour. Previously I had used whatever I could get my hands on, which was a mix of a bunch of different things. Improvement number 1!

I need to find a better place to put this so it's permanent, but I'd like to thank Shani's Farm for raising such great animals. This is who I get the pig from each year and they are amazing people. I would like to use this event as a reminder that in general, humans employ terrible practices for raising animals for food, but raising animals like they do at Shani's is how it should be done, and it makes a difference both in the quality of the meat and in the world. Make sure to support Shani's and your other local farmers!

Really stepped it up this year. I was convinced I needed to build a giant outdoor kitchen with a grill, smoker, pizza oven... then I was rapidly convinced I didnt need that. I got the smoker in though...
