Lady Cone Hop Yard

Lady Cone Hop Yard We are a women-run farm using regenerative and organic practices to grow hops for the craft beer industry, as well as a wide variety of veggies & garlic.

We also have pasture-raised eggs available from our small flock of heritage breed chickens & ducks! At Lady Cone Hop Yard, we grow 30 types of vegetables in over 80 varieties. As well as 10 varieties of fresh garlic. Although we are not yet certified organic we farm as though we are. We put an emphasis on soil health by cover cropping any area that isn’t in production and by using no-till or low-t

ill methods. Our chickens and ducks are some of the hardest workers on the farm. They lay fresh brown, white, green, and blue eggs every morning, then get to work scratching and scavenging the farm. We also recognize the importance that pollinators have on the farm. Our busy bees work hard to help pollinate our fruit and vegetables, which is why we have multiple hives and are able to offer you pure, raw, and natural honey.

It’s still zucchini season… so this time, we’re making dinner. 🍅🌿🥒

This fresh Zucchini + Tomato Pasta Sauce is about as simple as it gets — and you can pick up pretty much everything you need from us at the market tomorrow.

🥒 1–2 zucchini
🍅 A good handful (or two) of cherry tomatoes — mix up the varieties!
🧄 Fresh garlic
🌿 Fresh basil
🫒 Olive oil
Salt + pepper

Add the zucchini, tomatoes and garlic to a pan with a generous drizzle of olive oil. Let everything cook down until it’s soft, juicy and starting to fall apart.

Give those tomatoes and zucchini a good smash, stir in plenty of fresh basil and let it all simmer together until you have a chunky, rustic sauce.

Toss in your favourite cooked pasta, finish with freshly grated Parmigiano and that’s dinner. 🤌

No jarred sauce. No complicated recipe. Just really good food made with what’s growing right now.

Pick up your zucchini, tomatoes, garlic + basil from us at the Evergreen Brick Works market tomorrow and give it a try!

Buon appetito! 🍝

If there’s something happening on the farm, you can guarantee this dork is going to come over and investigate.

It’s zucchini season… which means we’re finding increasingly delicious ways to keep up with the garden. 😂🌱 Here’s our Zucchini Spice Cake + Cream Cheese Frosting…. 🧁

And this one is GOOD. Moist, warmly spiced and topped with a thick layer of cream cheese frosting — basically zucchini’s best possible outcome.

I used organic ingredients because that’s what I had on hand, but you absolutely don’t have to. I also kept the spices simple and used cinnamon + allspice instead of pulling half the spice cupboard out.
Enjoy! ~Sarah | LCHY

CAKE
3 eggs
1½ cups brown sugar
¾ cup melted butter
2 cups grated zucchini — don’t strain it!
1 tsp vanilla
2½ cups flour
1½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp salt

CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
8 oz cream cheese, softened
½ cup butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups powdered sugar
Splash of milk or creamer

Bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes in loaf pans, or 25–30 minutes for cupcakes. Cool completely before frosting.

Consider this your sign to go pick another zucchini at our market this weekend. 🥒😉

Eggplant is coming in, the shish*tos clearly have no plans of slowing down, and the flower field is showing off.

We’ll be bringing a whole lot of farm colour to market tomorrow — fresh picked, grown here, and looking pretty darn good if we do say so ourselves.

Fresh from the farm and headed to market 🧄🌿
Evergreen Brick Works

Grown right here at Lady Cone Hop Yard — because apparently we don’t just grow hops around here. 😉

Grab a few bulbs for the kitchen while they last.

You pick one squash and think you’re through…
Tomorrow there’ll be twenty-two!

They grow with sunshine, love, and rain,
Then somehow grow that much again.

If you need a loaf or veggie treat,
Zucchini simply can’t be beat.

So grab a basket, take your pick—
Before they grow another six! 😂🥒

Our borage is buzzing right now, feeding the bees while they help keep the farm blooming and growing.

A little reminder that steady, quiet work still makes a big difference. 💙

No sunflower gets left behind. 🌻🐐🐑

The sheep and goats are enjoying a midday snack yesterday from the garden. Around here, everything has a purpose—and whenever possible, nothing goes to waste. What we grow feeds more than just us.

Rodney and Kevin wasted no time settling into the fresh shavings—because quality control is an important farm job. 😂
