Working with native plants in floral design 🌱

Native plants play a big role in helping our out-of-balance ecosystem. So, bringing them into my floral designs is a way of making sure a lot of my garden space can go to them instead of non-native plants (I still have those, but every native plant I can grow is making my little piece of the ecosystem that much healthier!).

When I use native plants for designs, I don’t over-harvest from my gardens. It’s so important to me that the plants are mainly there for the wildlife and pollinators. I check for caterpillar eggs, spider webs, and other insect activity and I leave those sections. And then I purchase additional stems from other growers who are also growing and harvesting ethically with no pesticides and ecosystem-first practices.

For the wild at heart, easy-going, sustainable-minded folks out there 🖤

1-on-1 floral design class setup and my lovely student’s lovely arrangement! Loved how this turned out and the challenge of creating with only one type of flower - all daffodils in different shapes and sizes! Everything in this one was from the cutting gardens ☺️

I wait all year for the brief time we get with these adorable orange-centred mini daffodils! Straight from the daffodil patch 🤗. They add that little fairy element I’m always looking for in our garden bouquets 🧚

Don’t forget Mother’s Day is only a week away! Our workshops are booking up fast, really looking forward to seeing you all. We still have some bouquet deliveries and pickups available on the Saturday and Sunday as well.
