These sun flowers were literally flattened out by the storm.

You can see their amazing resilience.

Despite being on the ground they are still reaching for the sun light.

God's creation.

Thursday morning after the storm.

Hydro had been out since 6:00pm since Wednesday.

Out in the country there is no city water or sewer system. Everything is dependent on the home owner.

Both water and sewage systems needs pumps. Lots of pumps to get things where they need to go.

Pumps, coolers and freezers need hydro and we didn't have any.

Jerry kindly took 6 large buckets and water jugs to the water spring and hauled them all back.

Now I could go ahead and make flower bouquets for the market.

Sometimes it's a challenge. And we really appreciate our community support. You purchase our flowers, raspberries and honey.

P.S There was not as much damage as there could have been on the farm. The hydro was back on by 4pm with everything up and running.

A behind the scene look of the farm.

Some of our most common comments.

"I've driven by here so many times, never knew this existed."
"What a surprise - a piece of paradise."
"Truly, a hidden gem."

We're tucked away in the back corner of the farm. A haven of nature, beauty, peace and tranquility.

And it's open to you to enjoy a piece of it.

Thanks for the beautiful photos Jen.

It's late in the season so why is this honey not capped?

That's because it's not completely finished.

The nectar collected during the season and stored in the honey cells is about 80% water.

Hundreds of thousands of bees wings are continuously fanning the nectar to evaporate the water.

The honey is finished or complete when there is only about 17% of water left. Than the cell is capped.

How do the bees know this. We don't know.

We do know that this very low percentage of water prevents the honey from going bad.

Josip thinks the only nectar flow for the bees this late in the season is golden rod.

But than.......Josip is not a gardener.

Along with golden rod, we have "Seven Sons" - which buds are ready to burst. Sedum and aster.

The fall bearing raspberries are full of bees along with blossoms.

The flow is not the same amount as peak summer. But there's still lots of goodness to collect.
