There are times it's NOT a wise choice to garden.

We have had so much rain that the soil is saturated.

Hoeing, rototilling or any other equipment type of work is not recommended right now. Unless you have sandy soil where everything washes through.

When working the soil now it's remaining in clumps. The w**d roots stay attached to the soil and will keep on growing.

As things dry out those clumps and lumps will also dry out as lumps and clumps.

Anyone with a bit of clay in their soil will know how hard it's to break up these clumps.

Wait, and let things dry out a bit. Save yourself a pile of work by by repeating the process but in worse conditions.

Don't despair you can still work in the garden.

It's a piece of cake pulling w**ds now in this super soft earth.

It's also a great time to plant all those plants that need to find a home.

Happy gardening.

P.S. Amour up against those pesky blood sucking vampires.

In a couple of weeks you won't remember the busy, crazy weeks of June.

But you will remember your little one playing with the flower petals from the table.
The comments from your family. Or compliment from a visitor.
The scent that filled the room.

Flowers are special and have a very wonderful way of becoming a part of our memories.

That's why we keep on bringing them home.

It's peony season. And they are here and gone in a flash.

Did you know that a raspberry is a cluster of tiny berries.

Each drupelet (or tiny berry) needs to be pollinated by the bees.

Each raspberry has about 75-120 drupelets. That's a lot of pollinating.

Amazing bees.

Blossom has just started. It takes a month from blossom to fruit.

July is raspberry month.

We've all heard it. "Time is money."

Tried something different this year with the flower tarps. In the past they have been pulled. Cleaned up, labeled and neatly put away.

All takes time.

This year we left them on. And I'm sold. Just a bit of fine tuning and this will probably be the way of the future.

You can use this method in your gardens also.

To clean up a bed.
Expand your garden with out any back breaking work.
Get rid of problem areas.

All the details are in this weeks newsletter.

Feel free to join up. That way you get first dibs on what is happening or going to happen on the farm.

While cutting the grass in the gardens, this bright spot of yellow between the w**ds kept on catching my eye as I zipped past.

Couldn't a be dandelion. It was just to bright.

Of course I had to go and see what this foreign object was.....you never know. It could be a pot of gold.

Something just as precious. It was a ranunculus that had survived the harsh winter. All the snow, the freezing temps and blasting gale like winds.

What a gift as it looked at me with it's cheery, smiling face.

Your tenacity, your grit, your strength to push through, to shine and bloom has been the lift I needed.

Thank you.
