Just over a year has passed since I was offered the incredible opportunity from to join their farming mentorship program with . This opportunity has launched me into the farming world, was a big push for the new beginning of Rainbow Ridge, and has truly changed the way I see my future in farming.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to NL Young Farmers for all the great work they do to support new farmers and promote farming in Newfoundland! Opportunities like this truly matter, and they shape the next generation of farmers in ways that go far beyond the field.🌱

And also a massive thank you to everyone at Windy Heights who shared their knowledge so generously, and welcomed me in to learn alongside them. From foraging in the woods, beekeeping, seeing the business side of farming, planting seedlings, learning about regenerative agriculture, driving a tractor for the first time, and everything else in between... every experience, and each one of you taught me something valuable. I'm looking forward to our continuing and future farming adventures together!🐝

Every Fall people throw out one of the best free resources for their garden.

Leaves equal:
🍂 mulch and winter protection for plants
🍃 soil-builder for young garden beds
🍁 future compost
🍄 natural fertilizer

This Fall, use them in your garden, build a compost pile, or consider donating them to your local farmer.

Immeasurably grateful for the opportunity from to attend the Advancing Women Conference in beautiful Niagara Falls.

The conference was a major push for Rainbow Ridge Farm as a business, an incredible learning opportunity, and the experience was so much fun!

And most importantly, it brought me together with so many of the amazing women in agriculture from NL and around the world, a group I am so proud to be a part of❤️

We are so excited to finally reveal our official Rainbow Ridge logo! 🍎

A special thanks to the incredibly talented Anna Bullock who has worked with us over the past few months to create this beautiful logo that really is a true representation of Rainbow Ridge Farm.

About the Logo

🌳 - Our twist on the tree of life, a common symbol used to represent permaculture.

🐦 - The Woodpecker. An acknowledgment of our commitment to work with nature instead of against it, and a small homage to the beautiful family of Hairy Woodpeckers, and all the other critters, who call Rainbow Ridge home.

🚜 - Pop's Tractor. A glimpse into our past. An acknowledgment to Pop, Bernard Collins. Representing his decades of hard work — the roots he laid and the legacy he's still building.

🐝🍎 - The Bee and the Apple. A glimpse into our future. Envisioning the day when everyone can enjoy fresh, nutritious produce and the sweetest honey straight from Rainbow Ridge Farm.

Perched high above with Nan not far behind, some of my best childhood views were from Pop’s shoulders.

We’d spend the day in the woods, and explore the fields like they were our own little kingdom. Pop pointing out birds, trees, and berry bushes, while picking flowers for me along the way. Nan with her soft reminders to stay curious but careful.

This little reminds me to slow down, look closely, and learn the land --- those were the lessons I learned back then, and continue to learn now with two of the best guides I could ask for.❤️
