For Friday 20 th December and Saturday 21st December

Since we now have 2 cows, a calf (1 is in milk and I am hand milking twice a day) ,2 goats and chickens, delivery times on a Saturday in particular will probably be different but that also happens as we get busy with Christmas orders.

We have decided to take the month of January off and we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you to all who have supported us and we really appreciate you all.

In February we would like to move purely to email rather than Facebook and email and messenger and text. This will help me when replying and confirming orders as it is one less place to check. For those who do order through Facebook, if you could send me your email address you will still get the baking lists.

So now to this week
Tourtiere and chicken and leek will come frozen. Those who missed out last delivery and ordered them are all on the list already.

Christmas is when we always make smoked salmon pate and this year is no exception, we are so making a smoked salmon quiche . The Christmas wraps are on again with turkey this time rather than chicken.

I also have a small number of other fruit pies as well as the main raspberry pie on the list but these may go quickly.

Preserve wise last week I only managed to make toffee sauce as that is always popular at Christmas, so we may run out of other preserves earlier than normal. I had an odd week last week with lots of meetings and appointments every day so didn’t get a good few days catching up in the kitchen.

If you need a definite time ( in Fredericton) we do meet people at Tim Hortons on Smythe Street at 10 am on the Saturday. If you normally have a delivery but would prefer to meet up then let me know. In December this really helps me with Saturday deliveries.

I do always confirm the order so you should always hear back from me.

We can also take our jars back and the labels are easier for me to remove if they haven’t gone through a dishwasher.

Next list is out on the 3rd February

It is free delivery but please order by Wednesday.

For Friday 6th December and Saturday 7th December

A few bits of important information.
Since we now have 2 cows and a calf and 1 is in milk and I am hand milking twice a day, delivery times on a Saturday in particular will probably be different but that also happens as we get busy with Christmas orders.

We have decided to take the month of January off for a variety of reasons and after watching all the snow on Friday I was glad to have not been delivering and that we had already made the decision.

In February we would like to move purely to email rather than Facebook and email and messenger and text. This will help me when replying and confirming orders as it is one less place to check. For those who do order through Facebook, if you could send me your email address you will still get the baking lists.

So now to this week
I have already made and froze 2 of the meat pies…the Tourtière and the turkey and cranberry pies. The tourtière will be done again for the second delivery in December as will the steak and Guinness.

Christmas wraps are back too, these have our cranberry sauce with shredded chicken, bacon and then topped with cheese, so delicious.

Finally managed to make some more New Brunswick chutney too. The red pepper jelly is also delicious with cream cheese and crackers.

Since I am not technical enough to have an unsubscribe button, if ever you want to stop getting the emails then please just let me know.

We can also take our jars back and the labels are easier for me to remove if they haven’t gone through a dishwasher.

For Friday 15 th November and Saturday 16 th November

Chrome ( the cow) is doing well as are the chickens . We have found a friend for Chrome but more about that next time. Meanwhile I think I have all the wood I need in the woodshed for winter and so that’s a great feeling. With the weather getting consistently cooler and the days shorter it’s really starting to feel appropriate for November.

This week we have both the Christmas cakes and Christmas puddings available. Some have ordered these for December deliveries which is great as I have started a list. This really helps me know how many to make as I will probably only do them again in the 2 week gap at the end of November. You don’t need to pay till the delivery week of choice but that way you know you will get them.

This week we have some items that won’t go on the list again before Christmas but do freeze very well. These are mainly the Homesteaders pies, the pecan pies and the sticky toffee puddings. The Homesteaders pies will come frozen and talking of frozen I have also made the Old English pork burgers. I have also added some of the frozen soups from the last couple of deliveries but there aren’t big numbers of those ones.

If you need a definite time ( in Fredericton) we do meet people at Tim Hortons on Smythe Street at 10 am on the Saturday. If you normally have a delivery but would prefer to meet up then let me know.

I do always confirm the order so you should always hear back from me.

For Friday 1st November and Saturday 2 nd November

Apparently when looking at this post , meta add recipe options. Just to say these are not our recipes. 🤦🏻‍♀️

After a busy week getting ready for Chrome the cow, she arrived on Friday and is settling in very well. She should hopefully have her calf April / May time so until then it’s a case of spending lots of time with her. Which is fun , she loves carrots as a treat. I also had fun driving the tractor, using my chainsaw and getting some of the garden beds cleared for winter.
For those of you who knew what I was doing after last Saturdays delivery , Megan ( Danny’s fiancé) said ‘yes to the dress’ . Their wedding is in August 2025.

I made the Bajan Chicken and potato pie this week and that will come frozen. It’s curry flavour. Inspired from a trip to Barbados over 2 years ago! Where did those years go? I also have the dark Christmas cakes available. These have had the fruit ( currants, raisins, sultanas, cherries soaking in brandy for a few days before the cakes are made. These cakes will keep till Christmas without freezing and actually they mellow with time too.
The chocolate chip oat squares are the ones that I say are great cold but warmed in the microwave till the chocolate melts make them irresistible . Keith’s favourite cookies are the breakfast cookies. Lots of dried fruit , pecans, flax, oats, butter, brown sugar make these a perfect cookie.

If you need a definite time ( in Fredericton) we do meet people at Tim Hortons on Smythe Street at 10 am on the Saturday. If you normally have a delivery but would prefer to meet up then let me know.

For Friday 18th October and Saturday 19th October

Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you had a good weekend.
Keith and I celebrated our 33 yr wedding anniversary on Saturday. We had a day at home and I did one of our favourite meals for supper, a lovely day despite the wild weather.
The chickens are laying 2 eggs a day at the moment and we have loved having fresh poached eggs on toast. Only one has a name so far…Henrietta. She is the one that escapes from their run and is also one of the ones that are laying. She is funny and is quite the character. There is also another one who always goes into their house at night last and if I try to close the door before she is ready she pops back out again, walks around then goes back in her own sweet time!

This week we are making mild chilli . This way if you like it spicy then you can add more heat to it , it’s the way I do it for the family as everyone likes a different amount of heat. The soup is a lovely zucchini and potato and it’s also the first week of mince pies! These are British style….all fruit and no meat, they also contain Cointreau which is an orange liqueur.

If you need a definite time ( in Fredericton) we do meet people at Tim Hortons on Smythe Street at 10 am on the Saturday. If you normally have a delivery but would prefer to meet up then let me know.

I do always confirm the order so you should always hear back from me.

For Friday 4th October and Saturday 5th October

Just had a fantastic week with my sister Debbie. I don’t know if I have a single favourite moment as just to have time to chat and spend quality time together was amazing. We did lots of things from Apple picking, clearing some tomato plants, walking , and admiring how the leaves changed colour over the week. No one big event but so many special moments. Was very hard saying goodbye to her yesterday.

This weeks list is biased towards dessert pies since this is the last delivery before Thanksgiving. All the pies can be frozen and defrosted and warmed through in a low oven (325F) .

Also on the list is the turkey and cranberry meat pie. Consistency wise it is like the tourtière but flavour wise very different. The cranberry sauce is a homemade one which I put on the turkey mix before the top layer of pastry seals the pie. This often ‘melts’ into the pie while cooking giving a great flavour.
The soup is a roasted vegetable one containing butternut squash, sweet potatoes, carrots and onions .All our soups are vegetarian.

If you need a definite time ( in Fredericton) we do meet people at Tim Hortons on Smythe Street at 10 am on the Saturday. If you normally have a delivery but would prefer to meet up then let me know.

I do always confirm the order so you should always hear back from me.

It is free delivery but please order by Wednesday.

For Friday 20th September and Saturday 21st September

Well we have some exciting news! Our son Danny got engaged to his lovely girlfriend Megan ( now fiancé) this weekend. So happy for them and their exciting future together.

That was definitely the highlight of our non delivery week and not just because the rest of the week seemed to mainly be spent in the kitchen preserving! Oh we have so many preserve specials!

So…crab apple jelly , Red pepper jelly, chili jelly and heirloom tomato chutney are all back for a limited time. I went apple picking last Monday and will go again later today for the baking this week. So aside from the return of some favourite preserves I made a new one. It’s called Hedgerow Jelly ( thought it was a cute name) and is made with crab apples, very small plums( almost like a British damson plum), elderberries and blackberries. It has a great depth of flavour and a beautiful deep colour too.

Baking wise, with it being September I have put some fall type foods on . Gingerbread, pumpkin pie and the ever popular roasted butternut squash soup.

If you need a definite time ( in Fredericton) we do meet people at Tim Hortons on Smythe Street at 10 am on the Saturday. If you normally have a delivery but would prefer to meet up then let me know.

I do always confirm the order so you should always hear back from me.
Since I am not technical enough to have an unsubscribe button, if ever you want to stop getting the emails then please just let me know.
