True, best to dwell on the good things in life.

"It's a great day to be a farmer!"

Don't get me wrong, I don't have an easy time saying that all the time! But this past week I have found myself saying that every day. After a very long, tough Winter, and cold early Spring we have been blessed with an incredible stretch of warm dry air and alot of sunshine. I love watching the dry cows and bred heifers out on pasture, doesn't get any better than having them out on dirt and grass!
Crops are in the ground and poking through, and 1st cut is ready to go. Looks like a great week ahead!

Congrats Dave!

Congratulations to Dr. David Renaud, professor in the Department of Population Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College, on being named the 2026 recipient of the Cargill Animal Nutrition Young Scientist Award.

Presented by the American Dairy Science Association, this award recognizes outstanding research by early-career dairy production scientists. Renaud is being honoured for his contributions to dairy calf health and welfare research, including his work on colostrum management, disease prevention, transportation stress and antimicrobial stewardship.

Through his applied research and ongoing connection to the dairy sector as a practicing veterinarian, Renaud’s work continues to support evidence-based improvements in calf health and welfare on farms.
