The Yellowhorn is a fast growing flowering shrub that can reach 2 to 3 meters high. It is drought tolerant and cold hardy to our zone. It produces beautiful white flowers in the third year that appear in spring and turn into nuts in the fall. The macadamia sized nuts are edible and resemble the taste of a chestnut and can be eaten raw, roasted, boiled, or pressed for oil. Additionally, Yellowhorn is a popular plant for beekeepers as their flowers produce significant amounts of nectar and impart a unique flavor to honey. The seeds, flowers and leaves of this tree are all edible.
