Made from a grape which was once the backbone of the Ontario wine industry. Grown by the Lippsitt family on a 130-year-old farm on heavy clay soils at the top of the escarpment. Hand harvested Concord grapes. Fermented naturally. Bottled unfiltered with zero sulphur added!⁠

The wild and over-the-top aromatics run rampant: think candied, generous aromatics, but light on it’s feet: finishing in a tart, quenching (low-ABV) style.⁠

2023 SPARK!⁠

Here is another mashup of hybrids and vinifera that we love!⁠
• Both vineyards organically farmed with LOVE⁠
• 60% Petite Pearl from .farm⁠
• 40% Viognier from ⁠
⁠
Whole-cluster pressed, fermented wild and a small amount of juice added at bottling for carbonation with ZERO filtering and ZERO sulphur added. ⁠
⁠
Then we waited. And waited some more!⁠
⁠
What we have now is a beautiful balance of chalky red cherries, candy, currants and cranberries, finishing with a lithe spiced finish and delicate bubbles. ⁠

This hybrid and vinifera thing .... the, uhm, spark of something maybe? ⁠

Even while we are getting smothered by of the decade, this month, we take you back to the farm! What a time of year to think about summer weather and beautiful flowers! Imagine the aromatics of the garden lingering in the hot afternoon with a refreshing glass of wine in hand. ⁠

Ergo: Piquette: An upcycling, a renewal and a botanical adventure. Think of them as ready-to-drink wine spritzers! With grapes, and botanicals from our farm! These are low in alcohol (at about 4% ABV), lightly sparkling, with filled with delicate flavours. ⁠

The Royal Hotel’s Winemakers’ Hour is back! Let’s fill this space this Wednesday, Jan. 7th!

Join Trail Estate’s winemaker & vineyard manager Mackenzie Brisbois, for the Royal Hotel’s Winemakers’ Hour!
• Runs from 5:30-6:30
• Taste two Vintages of Estate Chardonnay (including preview of the 2023 vintage!) as well as our fave Red Sparkling!
