What's available this week?!

A little peek at what’s available from the homestead this week!

A few small-batch soaps, herbal-infused whipped tallow, and mineral herbal-infused whipped tallow — all made by hand, with simple ingredients I genuinely feel good about putting on our ski - obviously 💁🏻‍♀️

Made slowly. Made in small batches. Often with a little helper by my side.

Local drop off available Monday and Friday!

Pick up can be arranged as well if you want to sneak in a baby pig visit and a donkey pet 😏

DM me to arrange 🖤

Want to get into farrowing? 👀

Okay, hear me out…

You’ve got a little land.
You like the idea of raising your own pork.
And maybe — *just maybe* — you’ve thought, “How hard could it be to have a few pigs and breed my own?” (this may or may not have been me last year 🙈)

Well… we may have just the starter crew for you!

We have two breeding-quality gilts available as a pair:

Yorkshire × Berkshire weanling gilts
Born and raised here at Wack Homestead

And we have the perfect gentleman they can share and make the cutest babies with...

1 purebred English Large Black boarling
Obviously unrelated due to being a completely different breed
Ready to grow into your very own 700lb dog and herd sire

So instead of buying a couple feeder pigs every spring, you could start with your own little breeding operation and eventually be raising your own litters of piglets. 🥓

This would be a pretty sweet little foundation herd for someone wanting to dip their toes or maybe even want to bring in some new blood without starting completely from scratch!

Planning ahead for groceries? Want some local outdoor raised pork?

We've got individual packages of pork available processed at LOKO Meats!

Cuts we have available;

Bacon (1lb pkgs) @ $9
Pork chops (2-3lbs pkgs) @ $15
Roasts (3-4lbs) @ $20-$25
Ground pork (1lb pkgs) @ $7

Our pigs are fed locally sourced wheat and barley, fermented for 12-24 hours. They get to love the outdoors, which if if I am being honest, for me is the whole reason I quit buying bacon from the grocery store! That vitamin D directly affects the quality of the meat in itself.

So. If you're looking to add some locally raised pork into your menu - local drop offs available! Either this Thursday or Friday, or Monday next week!

And yes. The bacon is as good as it looks!

THREE weaners left!!

They come from a yorkshire sow - she's as sweet as they come.
Berkshire for a dad.

They were born July 1st. Given iron shots and castrated.

If you are looking to diversify and try out a different breed - there is the option for ONE purebred large english black as well! Born June 17th. These ones take slightly longer to reach market weight, but do find them less disruptive to the land yet great foragers! And SO friendly.

Located near Lloydminster.

I've been noticing quite a difference between the two litters.

The large blacks have warmed up to much SO much faster.

The yorkshire berkshire are definitely a little more skiddish.

Both are adorable.

The yorkshire berkshires will eventually succumb to their love of belly rubs, but it definitely is taking longer to get there!

**Excuse me.**

I'm told this is where I'm supposed to introduce myself.

My name is... well... I don't actually have one yet. Which feels a little rude considering I've been adorable since June 17.

I'm an English Large Black boarling, which basically means I come equipped with built-in earmuffs.

Those giant floppy ears? Excellent for looking handsome.

Seeing where I'm going? Slightly less excellent.

So here's the deal...

If you walk into my pen, I require one of two things:

🥕 Snacks.

🖐 Belly rubs.

Preferably both.

Please announce your arrival first.

Not because I'm unfriendly.

Because these magnificent ears have the unfortunate habit of covering my eyeballs. If you sneak up on me, there's a solid chance I'll jump approximately six inches into the air before realizing it's just you.

Then I'll immediately forgive you and jog over hoping you've brought snacks.

Or belly rubs.

Or snacks **and** belly rubs.

I'm not picky.

I like people.

Like... *really* like people.

I'm usually the first one to meet you at the gate, I'll happily leave nose smears on your jeans, weave around your feet while you try not to trip over me, and if you scratch my belly, you've basically cancelled the rest of my afternoon.

My brothers think they're busy doing pig things.

I'm busy making sure you don't leave without saying hello.

Now... let's talk about my future.

I'm looking for a farm with a few nice ladies (I'm not asking for dozens... but I'm also not opposed...), a mud hole for hot afternoons, deep straw for winter naps, and a human who understands that the best boars aren't just measured by the piglets they sire.

They're measured by whether you actually enjoy walking into the pen.

I've overheard my humans talking.

Apparently not every pig greets people like a puppy.

Apparently not every pig thinks belly rubs are a perfectly reasonable part of livestock management.

Apparently that's... "special."

I don't know about all that.

I just know life is better when visitors come with scratches and snacks.

If you're looking for a boar that's going to grow into 700 pounds of attitude...

I'm probably not your guy.

If you're looking for 700 pounds of gentle curiosity, floppy ears, heritage genetics, and the kind of temperament you hope he passes on to every litter...

Well...

I think we should meet!

(Just make some noise before you walk up. Remember the ears.)

Excuse me while I sit here awhile.

These are quickly becoming my favorite days!
