ELDERBERRY WANTED! It's harvest season and we are looking for Black Elderberry in the Muskoka area (Lake of Bays to Bracebridge, potentially further for epic spots). If you have lots of these wonderful bushes on your property we would love to come pick them or we will even pay for ripe picked berries. We believe in an ethical harvest which means leaving lots for the birds so the more we spread out our harvest efforts the better. If you have a wetland with lots of berries to share get in touch! Gardening is celebration and heartache all wrapped up in one. With the same crop, you can have an amazing year and total failures. You can feel accomplished one season and hopeless the next. This platform is often everyone's highlight reels showcasing their best. Heres my best and my worst of the season. I love growing squash.It's one of my most favorite crops. It's wild nature suits our gardens well. The last few seasons, cucumber beetles have established themselves in our feral garden and this year we are struggling with the bacterial wilt that they spread. My garden is still beautiful and productive even with the losses and the heartbreak I see when I enter my garden gate. Just like in life we can be struggling and succeeding at the same time. I see you and honor your struggles and celebrate your successes.

One of the best parts of summer right here. Life is busy. Running a business is hard. Grow a garden is hard work. Wild berries are a gift. Take time to get out and pick some wild berries near you.

Took a break from the work of the busy summer season to spend a day on the water in my community. Chris and I have lived in Lake of Bays for 16 years and have never done this paddle. Friendship is an integral part of foraging for me. Connecting with the plants is vital but through this foraging business I have truly cultivated and grown so many friendships. The need for large stands of plants to fullfill the needs of the business are constant. I need large plant communities because I only ever take a small portion of any patch. Time and time again reaching out to human friends to connect me with foraging spots on their lands keeps the business going. These connections become annual visits. Friends meet up to help me pick. Students and helpful neighbors become friends. The plants are so giving and abundant and so is the human community who has grown around this little venture called Wild Muskoka. Thank you to & for the beautiful nettle spot (sad I didn't take more photos of us all together!) Thank you to everyone who has shared their lands or their time to help me pick and process beautiful foraged plants. Thank you to the every giving green world 💚

Happy kick off to summer Muskoka! I had the privilege of catching Marsh's Falls at sunset. So blessed to live in this gorgeous place and have this magic spot minutes from home. Visit Marsh's Falls if you get a chance this weekend!
