rm, you will find that all the animals are easily visible out in our green fields. We have nothing to hide and time-permitting, are happy to explain to you why producing pasture-raised, non-GMO eggs and pork is so important to our health and well-being. We raise old-fashioned heritage Berkshire pigs known for their tender, marbled, red meat. We only sell what we raise, and we eat what we grow. Our finished frozen meats are available for individual purchase from the farm freezers, and larger orders for a side of pork are available as well. Frozen chicken from integrated Farms is $5.75/pound. Frozen pork ranges from $7-15 depending on the cut.

Today has been huge! Utterly gratifying but exhausting.

So after taking apart the barn, picking up debris that didn’t belong on a manure pile, taking a dog for vaccinations, and collecting a pallet of produce, I just did not have time to finish opening a whole box of romaine before my next food run.

“It will be fine on the ground in the big box,” I said. “There are only little pigs out, they can’t reach it.”

40 minutes later I returned to this.

Needless to say, they had gotten tired of so much salad and proceeded to trample it.
At least it only took ten minutes to clean up the mess.

Time to watch Marshalls on Amazon and see if my eyes stay open for a full episode.

I was the happy beneficiary of free barn cleaning today, with the stipulation that I had to clean the machine. Unfortunately, the rainstorm hit 30 minutes after I finished power washing, but I cleaned up pretty quick.

The Barrie Farmers Market opens in a few minutes, and I have a fresh supply of loin chops and butt steaks. This group was finished almost exclusively on fruit and veggies, it’s going to make very tasty meals!

Some of the herd out enjoying the cool evening last night. 10c/50f is a pig’s preferred temperature, but 15/70 wasn’t bad either!

I did not do well with ICU house pigs this winter, but this little runt did well on her own with her litter. But she is only the same size as piglets two months younger than her.

She prefers to hang out with her much larger littermates, but has just figured out she can escape as often as she likes, and will eat much better if she runs over when I unload the truck.

So she has a name now, Sparky, and hopefully she will keep up with the younger litters all summer.

The herd is content after loads of pears, sugar peas, cantalopes and some mixed produce. It’s cool out, last night’s gentle rain has given the pasture a boost, and they have no concerns other than grazing and playing.

I am also content.

I have seen both deer and coyotes skirting the edge of my crop fields. There have been no sign of deer for years, but 1-3 does show up frequently this spring.

Some hidden well of energy let me get through feeding and on to building two big garbage totes to keep my never-ending flow of garbage and recycle bags out of the pigs reach. No more picking up ripped garbage bags!

Then I took care of three mountains of produce boxes and consolidated the onions that keep getting pushed around the yard from their compost pile. Pigs don’t eat onions, which is good as it taints the meat, but I get a lot of them so they quickly take over wherever the bag or box was put down.

Now I can focus on setting up a food unpacking area and a grain and milk storage area. Maybe I can even repair my yard fence and get some flowers growing!

It’s a hot one today, so the wallow is getting well used.

If you watch, you’ll see a smaller pig come into the frame walking funny.

She was born with the hock joint not fully developed, so it did not open all the way. I kept an eye on her and over the weeks it got stronger and more flexible until she gained proper flexibility on it. She can finally walk and run properly, but it is still a weaker leg.
