🍁 2026 Maple Season Wrap-Up 🍁

Our 2026 season came and went in a flash! We had our first boil on March 15. From there, we only boiled for four full weekends, wrapping up the season on April 11.

We finished the season with a total of 455.5 litres of maple syrup, a pretty great year for us considering how short the season was!

One of the biggest game changers this year was adding our RO system. It helped us keep up with the big sap runs, and get some full nights of sleep. What a difference that made!

We’ve been busy removing taps, cleaning lines, and getting everything tucked away for next season!

We’ll be sharing details on our upcoming markets and some new products soon, so stay tuned. 🍁

Weekend #3 of boiling is underway! 🍁

This weekend we had about 1,600 gallons of sap to process, and we’ll be wrapping that up today.

Big news from the sugar shack! We finally made the jump from dark syrup into amber, and even hit our lightest syrup ever to date! 🥳

For those curious, syrup colour is measured by transparency:
• 0–24: Very Dark
• 25–49: Dark
• 50–74: Amber
• 75–100: Delicate

Our last batch yesterday came in at 67! Solidly amber and a big milestone for us!

So far, we’ve produced 340 litres of syrup, and we’re hoping for 1 more strong weekend to reach our goal of 500 🤞

Meet the team behind the syrup, usually we’re behind the scenes (and in the sugar bush), but we thought we’d finally say hello!

Weekend #2 of maple season is here, and it’s going to be a big one! 🍁 Weekend #1 was full of its usual trial and error to get everything working just right!

We have just over 1,800 gallons of sap to process, so it’s safe to say our RO will be getting a serious workout 😅

So far, we’ve been producing dark syrup, our personal favourite, but we’re excited to see how the rest of the season unfolds!

As we gear up for our first boil of the season (hopefully this weekend 🤞), here are a few of the projects we’ve been working on behind the scenes!

Our biggest undertaking this year was a mainline upgrade in our Carp sugar bush. We switched from an all 5/16 tubing setup to three 3/4 mainlines running through the bush, with 5/16 lateral lines to the trees. This upgrade should help increase sap flow and make the collection process much more efficient during those busy runs.

Another exciting addition this year is a reverse osmosis (RO) machine. The RO removes a portion of the water from the sap before it reaches the evaporator, which will help us keep up during big sap runs and reduce the amount of wood needed for boiling. We’re really looking forward to seeing how it improves our efficiency this season.

We also spent some time refurbishing an old hood for the evaporator. Last season we had a few steam issues, so we’re hoping this update will help improve things when we get boiling.

Both the Carp and Inverary sugar bushes are officially tapped, and now we’re just waiting on Mother Nature to cooperate so we can fire up the evaporator and get the season started.

2025 Wrapped - R & W Maple Edition 🍁

What a year it’s been for our little maple syrup operation!

This year, we grew our tap count from 200 to 500, produced just over 500 litres of syrup, attended 7 markets (up from just 2 in 2024), and had the chance to meet so many incredible people along the way. One highlight was the South Frontenac Plowing Match, which gave us the opportunity to do more than sell - we loved showing everyone how syrup is made and the tools we use behind the scenes.

2025 was also a big year for upgrades. This was our first season using our Lapierre Vision 2.5x10 evaporator, and we absolutely love it. It was easy to learn and gave us exactly the efficiency boost we needed for the extra trees. We also boiled our first season in our newly built sugar shack, which still feels pretty surreal.

One of the best feelings this season was having folks come up to us, compliment our products, and come back for more. We appreciate everyone who stopped by the sugar shack, or to say hi at a market!

We are incredibly grateful to our family, friends, and everyone who supported us this year. Thanks to you, we reached our goal of selling out of most of our products - something we’re really proud of.

👀 Looking ahead to 2026: we’re making some upgrades to our current sugar bushes to increase efficiency for sap collecting, we have a few ideas for new products, and we’ll be releasing our market schedule shortly. Stay tuned!

We’re headed to the Frontenac County Plowing Match tomorrow! 🚜🍁

Come say hi! We’ll be set up with all your maple favourites - syrup, sugar, cream, and candies - plus we’re launching something brand new: Maple Cinnamon Sugar! 🥳

Since it’s an Open Farms event, we’re bringing along a bunch of extras to show off how we make our syrup. We can’t pack up the whole sugar shack (we wish!), but we will have photos, small tools, and lots of fun facts to share.
